Piney Point Lighthouse Museum Offers Holiday Exhibit

The Piney Point Lighthouse, Museum and Historic Park in Piney Point will present a holiday exhibit in the lighthouse keeper's quarters, a historic building not normally open to the public. The exhibit theme is "Reading Lights the Way" and each room of the keeper's quarters will highlight a favorite holiday storybook.

Museum staff and volunteers will offer tours of the exhibit, museum, 1836 lighthouse, and the Potomac River Maritime Exhibit filled with historic wooden boats. The lighthouse tower will be available for a climb to the top.

The Lighthouse Lens Museum Store will be open with an array of unique gifts, lighthouse and nautical items, jewelry, clothing, home décor and children's items. Museum gift memberships are the perfect gift for the "one who has everything" and provide a 10% discount on museum store items.

The museum and holiday exhibit will be open 12 noon to 4 p.m. on December 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, and16. To accommodate the schools' holiday recess, the exhibit will be open daily from December 17 through December 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
