Benefit Trail Ride for the Greenwell Foundation's Therapeutic Riding Program

This is a marked ride through woods, around fields, crossing one road. Trail guides will be available. You and your horse can enjoy the beautiful views, commentary horse treats and friends.*

Greenwell State Park will host the sixth annual benefit ride for Greenwell TRP on October 21, 2002. The Greenwell TRP is a therapeutic riding program created for disabled children and adults to enable them to enjoy the benefits of horseback riding. Located at Greenwell State Park in Hollywood, MD, The Greenwell TRP is a non-profit organization. Children in the riding program struggle with such disabilities as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Scterosis, Autism, Sensory Integration Problems, Speech Problems, and Developmental Delays. Advances seen in the arena include spastic muscles relaxing, riders speaking their first clear words, hyperactivity calmed by the horse's movements, and a rider now strong enough to sit astride the horse when at first he could only lay across the horse's back to ride. General Directions: Route 235 South to Route 245 East, about 3 miles turn right onto Steer Horn Neck Road, 1 mile to Greenwell State Park on the left. After entering Park, take first left and process to the Pavilion area.
*Greenwell Foundation's TRP does not supply or rent horses at this time.
