We've been kick around the idea of getting our son a guinea pig. I had one when I was his age and loved that squeeker! I think he is ready, but Im hesitant on buying one (or 2) from Petco.

While I lucked out when I was a kid, the piggies at petco look a little older than I remeber and seem skitish.

Are there any healthy and well treated locals that need to be adopeted?

Check the shelter - that seems to be the dumping ground when the kids get tired of caring for them.
