So, they will run the guns through the database to see if ti was used in a crime, but since it is a no questions asked event, sort of pointless other than as a stat. "Yeah!!!! Look at us!!!!! We took a crime gun off the streets!!!!!"

As if the gun itself committed the crime, and the person who pulled the trigger wont ever break into the Tackle Box and take more guns.
