Hi! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good neurologist in the tri-county area? A friend's son is having horrendous migraines that are getting worse every time. He throws up, has excruciating pain, and sometimes is incoherent. He is 14 and their family doctor said he can see a neurologist that is for adults or kids. She called Children's Hospital because they have been impressed with the care there in the past. The soonest they could see him is in...April! That's nuts.
Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks so much!
I have suffered with migraines for years. With the symptoms you have described, are the symptoms I get with migraines. My migraines have gotten worse in the past two years. I have been on Imitrex for the past two decades, and they help tremendously The pain is gone in 30 minutes.
I went to a neurologist here in Charlotte Hall, and he said that there was nothing he could do...(You might want to check with one though, it never hurts to get an opinion.)
Good luck to your friend's son! Bottom line- there is no cure for migraines. You can only try to manage them...and unfortunately, they last a lifetime. I started having my migraines when I was a teenager, and I am 57 now.
(Migraines are life altering. I can't tell you how many times I could not function with just the normal things. As a matter of fact, I can't function at all when I have them! You can't eat, sleep, drive, or anything. I think people that don't get them, can't fully understand how serious they are...)
