The CBO says 2.5 million people will lose their jobs because of Obamacare, and the New York Times spins that to be a good thing.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/05/o...the-insurance-trap.html?hpw&rref=opinion&_r=2

I suppose with a little effort you can spin anything.
The New York Times is bragging about subsidies for people who don't have enough money to buy insurance.
Do they really think those subsidies come out of the atmosphere? You know who pays those subsidies? Look in the mirror and find out.

If Obamacare was going to lower health care costs why should subsidies be needed, especially for a family that earns S90,000 dollars a year?

White House: It's A Good Thing That Obamacare Will Drive 2.5 Million Americans Out Of The Workforce
Avik Roy Avik Roy, Forbes Staff

Yesterday, Washington’s official non-partisan bean-counter, the Congressional Budget Office, dropped a bomb. By 2024, says the CBO, Obamacare will reduce the size of the U.S. labor force by 2.5 million full-time-equivalent workers. That’s roughly triple what the CBO had estimated three years ago. Such a sizeable decline in the labor force will have substantial detrimental effects on the U.S. economic and fiscal picture. But the CBO wasn’t responsible for the most amazing thing that happened yesterday. That title belongs to the Obama White House, where Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”

:roflmao:

You have to give it to Carney, he should go down in history as the spin genius of all time. If it weren't for him the White House would have been torn down brick by brick and burned by now, and Obama torn apart limb from limb and the pieces flung into the Rose Garden.

Obama better be paying him well.

But isn't it funny how close the story in the New York Time Rhymes with the story Jay Carney put out.

One would almost believe that the New York Times was an adjunct of the Obama Government. It is almost like Obama and Jay Carney are the Assistant Editors.

So much for a free press.

Kind of like when the Times buried the story about telco spying and retroactive immunity for at least a year at the behest of the Bush administration.

No, the CBO report DOES NOT SAY 2.5 million people will lose their jobs.

It SPECIFICALLY DOES NOT say that.

If you would take the time to get your head out of your ass and read the actual report you would understand that your comment is COMPLETELY WRONG.

You and the rest of the "informed and educated voters" need to go to:

CBO | The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2014 to 2024

click on Read the Complete Document which is here:

http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/45010-Outlook2014.pdf

Then go to Appendix C (C is after B and before D). If you can't follow that, then turn to page 123...which is right after page 122 and right before page 124. There you sill see this paragraph the begins on the lower right hand side of page 123:

The reduction in CBO’s projections of hours worked represents a decline in the number of full-time-equivalent workers of about 2.0 million in 2017, rising to about 2.5 million in 2024. Although CBO projects that total employment (and compensation) will increase over the coming decade, that increase will be smaller than it would have been in the absence of the ACA. The decline in fulltime- equivalent employment stemming from the ACA will consist of some people not being employed at all and other people working fewer hours; however, CBO has not tried to quantify those two components of the overall effect. The estimated reduction stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses’ demand for labor, so it will appear almost entirely as a reduction in labor force participation and in hours worked relative to what would have occurred otherwise rather than as an increase in unemployment (that is, more workers seeking but not finding jobs) or underemployment (such as part-time workers who would prefer to work more hours per week).

It's obvious by your posts that you are another member of the idiot brigade.

The report CLEARLY STATES that their estimate is NOT a function of people LOSING jobs. The CBO estimates that people will/may CHOOSE to work fewer hours.

Now, if your feeble mind can understand the difference between your incorrect post and the reality of what the CBO is ACTUALLY estimating, then you could have a very good debate about the effects of the ACA.

But if you want to continue to regurgitate the Fox News propaganda, then you are just going to continue to sound like a complete idiot.

Tommy, must all of your posts be offensive>

If I am mistaken in my reading an article it does not necessarily mean my head is up my ass. It doesn't mean that I am an idiot. I do not consider myself feeble minded.

I neither desire or intend to have a debate with a person as rude or with such an incontinent mind as yours.

You drink your Kool-Aid and I will drink mine.

Meantime with your brilliant postings the CBO still says Obamacare will reduce the size of the U.S. labor force by 2.5 million full-time-equivalent workers.

The CBO can act as though those people made that decision themselves all they like but it doesn't change the fact, that many employers are cutting people's hours. ,Many employers are cutting employees to stay beneath the 50 employee limit,, Many employees are not hiring for the same reason. You can spout all the articles you like, but the reality is that this is happening. People are effected by it, people are having it done to them.

Obamacare is poison. Fox news did not make it poison. The democrats did that.
No matter how many names you call me or anyone else in disagreement with you the fact is that Obamacare cannot be defended. You cannot shine a tennis shoe.

Not sure how many jobs you have had, but I have never seen people willing to give up hours just because. If the ACA makes it makes it to where people need to earn less so they can afford its product, then its a failed system. The system is supposed to make insurance affordable for every American, yet in reality it looks it will require many Americans to earn less, in order to afford insurance. Not a good trade off imo.
