Everything has it's limits.

Or at least it did before Obama.

His arrogance is as unlimited as his rising debt.

How many weeks is enough? IMO, in this area especially, if you aren't working there is only one reason. I had a blind call from someone that heard we were looking for an estimator. Yes, we were. Everything sounded good until I told him the project was in Rockville. His answer, "nope, if I can't work in Charles county I'll just stay on unemployment". Far as I know, he still is.

Just kidding. There aren't any.

Some good reasons not to, though.

This tread should be very effective TJ-sweetcheeks bait. Just watch.:howdy:

The Grumpy Economist: Unemployment

Oh for Christ's sake...you are one of the people who complains about the govt stats.

Think for just one half a second, if that is possible.

What happened to those folks who are no longer receiving unemployment? Does your brain tell you that they all found jobs? Your idiot source article obviously thinks so,

In reality what happened, was the vast majority of those folks simply stopped looking for work (a requirement to receive unemployment benes) and are no longer counted in the workforce.

On one hand YOU will specifically b!tch that the national unemployment rate dropped in a specific month because of people leaving the workforce.

Then on the other hand, YOU PRAISE a drop in the unemployment rate because people left the workforce.

The cause of the drop in the unemployment rate is exactly the same. Yet you b!tch about the national number because it paints a Dem Prez in a bad light and PRAISE the NC number because it paints an R Gov in a good light.

Yeah..you are another wonderfully informed Southern Maryland voter with an open mind who is concerned only about America and the Constitution!

What happened to the shovel ready jobs? What happened to companies wanting to hire? Well, I can answer that. First, under your God, the minimum wage mandate will cut into profits, profits needed to grow a business, something your Highness has never done. Healtcare costs will shut many businesses down completely. Heavy handed Justice Department agencies have hammered companies profits. So, TJ, the economy has a direct connection with the Commander in Chief has done with his TOTALLY failed policies.

Let me guess. You just got an email from friends who you can't name, who just got their unemployment benefits taken away right? Four troopers showed up and took the benefits away without a warrant right? :killingme

Who would find that ^ amusing? You better stick with your daytime job..whatever that is. :coffee:

Why should benefits ever stop?

Dodd/Frank recently enshrined Too Big To Fail and guaranteed the most capable people in the nation, the smartest, most creative, guaranteed their success and stability.

If we are going to guarantee the stock markets and billionaires portfolios, where is the rationale to not just pay people to not work?

Think about it. Any negative effect this may have on the economy is, ultimately, backed by the printing presses of the US government. Any Too Big to Fail entity has no vested interest in whether people are productive or not. None. The government has no interest in folks working and being self reliant. The major parties, likewise.

Why on earth should benefits be ended? Why aren't they, like Too Big To Fail, just guaranteed?

I'd be interested in good reasons.

If benefits never stop and we just keep printing money to cover it, who will work? No need for retirement plans, health insurance or the IRS. The Too Big to Fail will fall without any employees. Remember the stink from the last government shutdown? With unending benefits, there won't be any towel service or janitorial services or heat and air conditioning.........Who would stock shelves at the grocery store? How would you get fuel for your home or vehicles?

The only people who will work is those interested in achieving more than what the base benefit is. If I am happy, say, getting $500 a week for sitting on my ass and you have an opportunity to go earn $2,000 a week because too many lazy bums like me are about making that opportunity for you, well, there you go.

Too Big To Fail can NOT fail. That's the whole point. Bernanke and Paulson fought the last war. They'd have been great in 1929. Things have changed far too much to do now what should have been done then. It's silly to argue otherwise but, there it is.

You think it through. That is where we were headed pre run away immigration; not enough workers hence, higher wages. Simple demographics.
So, now, given what it is, and both parties are on board with it, 'reality' as we knew it is gone. Pay a base benefit to everyone. Anyone who wants more, opportunity will be there.

I know how that sounds, but, we're past whether or not this is a capitalist or socialist society. May as well make the best of it because it ain't going back. And, frankly, it doesn't have to. Not as long as we are the biggest dog on the planet and can do whatever the hell we want.

You guys do realize that to receive said benefits you must supply the names and contacts of at least three Jobs, interviews and contacts for each, per week of benefits .:coffee:

A better idea would be to follow the guidelines you are issued by MD DLLR when you file your claim.

Straight from the state web site:

An active search for work means that you are meeting the guidelines for seeking work in your occupation and labor market. When you filed your initial claim, you were given instructions concerning your work search methods. You must look for work as instructed or your benefits may be denied. Generally, this means that you must look for full-time work and make at least two, work search contacts each week.

Generally. :coffee:
