Late last week came the news that Planned Parenthood of Illinois, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation have agreed to pay $2 million in a wrongful death settlement to the surviving young son of a woman who died after an abortion at a Chicago Planned Parenthood in 2012.

This is huge news, no? Were this a settlement to a family whose loved one died because a hospital refused her an abortion, it would be broadcast everywhere.

On July 20, 2012, 24-year-old Tonya Reaves, pictured right, died after a late-term abortion at Planned Parenthood’s Loop Health Center from uncontrolled bleeding, according to court documents.

Other reports have implicated a 5-plus hour delay by the Michigan Avenue PP in getting Reaves to Northwestern and more delays in getting treatment there. At the hospital, Reaves was allegedly found to be suffering from an incomplete abortion and perforated uterus.

Reaves’ son is now 3 years old and will receive $1,479,571.39 after attorneys get their cut.

Supposedly Planned Parenthood was supposed to provide abortions in a clean environment with Professionals doing the job. This was supposed to stop the deaths from so called back alley abortions.

The way this reads it sounds like that isn't working out so well. Late term abortions are more dangerous to start with and IMO should be illegal, but to have an incomplete abortion, a perforated uterus, and to bleed for 5 hrs .before getting this woman to a hospital IMO should lead to someone going to jail, or at the least to have a really intense investigation into why this practitioner should be allowed to practice medicine.

This is not the first time people have died in these abortion mills due to unsanitary conditions, Mickey Mouse Doctors , and malpractice.

huh? Are you saying that the settlement from Northwestern Hospital, planned parenthood and the Northwestern Hospital Memorial fund is funded by tax dollars?

There are settlements every day all over the country for malpractice, death and otherwise. Why are you expecting the media to jump on this one?

Okay, I google this and find it in ABC, CBS, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune and a host of other media outlets are carrying this story. I don't think it's that big a deal. You should read something other than the rags you read.

The reason the story about the settlement is coming out now is because there was a custody dispute over the child, and therefore the details could not be completed until that issue was resolved.
