An Iowa cop nearly died last week when a large oak tree abruptly snapped and fell, crushing an SUV he was ticketing.

Officer Jeremy Veach was talking to the driver, who had neglected to put her headlights on, when the 30-foot tree cracked and fell, totaling the car and driving Veach to the ground.

And all he was trying to do was get to the root of the matter.

And the tree said "Leave him alone".

And the cop said "You're really going out on a limb with this"

And the tree said "You're barking up the wrong tree... Switches for you!"
