I cannot say that I know of any local shop to buy composting worms from. Mike's Bait might be able to help you, they supply a lot of wrigglers to the local bait shops. Otherwise look here - http://unclejimswormfarm.com/ Not an endorsement just a site that I found that might help you.

Yes, there is the obvious way but when you want bulk that way is challenging. There is also an old trick of laying newspaper down on the soil, soaking it with water and coming back periodically (in the morning when its cool) to catch the newest worms attracted to it.

If you start a compost pile it won't be long until you have plenty of worms.

My yard is void of earthworms it seems, part of my plan is to also increase the local worm population.

my son just goes around picking up the bricks around the non-existant flower bed & collects them :shrug: just look under heavy things that might be laying around LOL
