2nd Amendment being argued IN Supreme Court Today

Odd isn't it, the supreme court is deliberating on the meaning of the constitution itself, and the main stream media is virtually ignoring it.

Our own government has been following suit, ignoring the constitution, why shouldn't the media? Our own VP argues to keep the DC ban in place. I never understood why Bush picked Cheyney to be a VP. I understand checks and balances, but those two are oil and and...oh yea. Just oil. nebbermind.

Power with Control
I think that article kinda misrepresents Cheneys position. As I recall, he was basically on the side of the citizen in this, thats where he differed from the administration, not on the side of gun control.

And dont I recall at least three cases where realitvely high profile Washingtonians have used "illegal" handguns to defend themselves and thier property, which kinda puts the lie to the citys contention that "there is no legal use for them in this urban environment". There certainly is, to defend the owner from the really illegal guns.

Mayor Fenty thinks " that we should have reasonable restrictions on any constitutional right" WTF?????

The dumb woman police chief " we don't want a total ban on handguns, police, former police and certain security companies can still have them"

What about the citizens you effing cu**!?!?

NOT Politically Correct!!
A ban on guns guarantees job security for law enforcement and continued federal funding to prevent violent crime. If citizens were armed and the crime rate goes down like it has in the 31 states which have CCW laws, what good would that do since DC loves getting Paid!!! :coffee:

Um, Cheney sided against Bush on this one and cosigned the amicus brief supporting the individual civil right idea arguing that the ban shoud go, not stay.

I listened to much of it on C-span the first time it was played. No cameras were allowed in the court room. I think worse case scenario, based on what I heard, they will vote 5-4 "No" to up hold the ban, it could even go as high as 7-2 in the 2nd Amendments favor.

I think that he is referring to this morning, but the reason why they were not reporting on it much at the time is because the reporters were all still there getting the story while it was happening.
In the last week, each of those sources posted multiple articles, I just picked the first ones of each source I saw. It was also the top story on the 11pm news Monday night because people were camped out in front of the Supreme Court trying to get in to see the proceedings. One article I saw when I did a search was from late last week and the headline was something about tickets to be in the courtroom were being scalped at higher rates than many rock concerts.

I don't think there are any tickets to get into the SC except maybe for the press and I believe it was first come, first served for everyone else. I was there outside all morning and I saw no tickets or scalpers.

I didn't read the whole article, just the first paragraph, but as I recall from a field trip a century or so ago, there are two types of seats, those that can stay the whole time, generally reserved for press, people with a stake in the case or people with connections, like you better believe there were people from the Mayor's office sitting in the front row. The rest of the spectator seats are on a first come first serve basis, but they rotate people out after a period of time to let others in. I would imagine the permanent seats are doled out on some sort of ticket basis.
