Anyone know what those yellow wild flowers are that are all over the base and other areas in southern maryland?

They would be Wild Marigold plants.
Is it possible to tame them?

They are called Tickseeds. The seeds have two sharp prongs that cause the ripe seeds to stick to clothing - or fur - which helps the plants spread to new areas.

Darn I thought they were Jerusalem Artichokes. I was planning to dig some up to check...
There is a overgrown area on Breton Bay Golf course that is filled with these flowers. A guy I played with last week said he was going to pick some for his woman until we rolled up on them and discovered they were covered in bees, lightning bugs, and various other insects. They do make the field look nice though.

Nope. Ragweed is all green, including the "flower" heads. The other yellow blooming weed you see around fields and edges of woods is golden rod. They are about 3 feet high wih brnached clusters of small bright yellow flowers.
