On Saturday, December 19, 2015, Law Enforcement Officers from Southern Maryland took a large group of children to the St. Mary’s Wal-Mart to shop for themselves and their families for Christmas.

The day started with donuts and beverages, and then everyone piled into the police cruisers.

With lights and sirens, the parade of cars made there way to the California Wal-Mart to do some Christmas shopping.

Children nominated by police officers and St. Mary’s County Public Schools are picked up at their homes by local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, as well as members of the Unites States Coast Guard.

Children will then shop with the police officers and have breakfast made by members of the Optimist Clubs of St. Mary’s County.

The “Shop with a Cop” program is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization consisting of members of the St. Mary’s County Optimist Clubs and the St. Mary’s County Fraternal Order of Police.

The “Shop with a Cop” program is an all-volunteer program with no paid employees. Donations are welcome and are tax-deductible. Donations can be sent to:

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office
