Looking for something different, (not mega expensive) and fun to do for a birthday party. Any ideas or past experiances to throw at me??

What the person considers fun is a good way to start. You could have a themed party:

Person likes books - have a party themed around books - ask all guests to bring a book as a gift - serve food items found in coffee houses - invite a local author

Person likes mardi gras - have a dress up party with a king cake and beads as party favors

Person likes sex - have an adult toy party - invite a rep from one of the various companies to attend with items for sale - have anatomically correct cake

Person likes flowers - have a garden party - ask all the guests to bring a plant, decorate cake with edible flowers

Person likes wine - have a wine tasting party - check with one of the local winerys to see if it can be held there.
