If they don't get rehired they could lose their pensions. Probably dead wood anyway.

A little perspective.

"Of the officers whose resignations were accepted, some will continue in the Foreign Service in other positions and others will retire by choice or because they have exceeded the time limits of their grade in service," said a statement by acting State Department spokesman Mark Toner.

Among those whom Reuters has confirmed are leaving, are Gregory Starr, Assistant Secretary for State for Diplomatic Security and Michele Bond, Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs.

Thomas Countryman, the acting undersecretary for arms control and international security, was asked to leave by Friday, U.S. officials said, as was Patrick Kennedy, under secretary of state for management.
"This is not unusual, it's not a mass protest or a show of indignation," said one senior U.S. official.

LMAO Semantics don't really make a lot of difference , their asses are out the door. AMF folks

That's right. Resignation or not, they were gone. As it should be when a new sheriff is in town. The trumpster has about 5,900 more of those to go at all levels and agencies of govt.

Most of those peeps had reached their max time in whatever grade they were in, and were finished unless they got kicked upstairs. Not gonna happen with a new prez.

What...you can't read either?

Of course I can - moreover - I can read between the lines.

The story is being spun as though their departure is some form of mass protest, when it is nothing of the kind.
They are not all "quitting" on Trump. As you noted, per tradition, they submit their letters of resignation. As they always do.
The President accepted them - as he may do.
It's not a slight against Trump.

One of them - Greg Starr- said he was leaving no matter WHO won.

You really are going to spend the next four years just being pissed off all the time, aren't you?
