Trump's Muslim entry ban targets refugees, not terrorists—and skips over his own business interests

Ubi bene ibi patria
" As green card holders returning to America and already-vetted and approved refugees are being detained at our airports, and as the same Republican leaders who condemned Trump's rancid notion of a ban on Muslim refugees during the campaign endorse the implementation of that notion now, and as American companies retreat to a war-like footing, we should again reiterate that there seems no actual security reason for Trump's buffoonish, white-nationalist inspired refugee ban.

Because it's not aimed that the nations terrorists have actually come from. Though Trump referred to 9/11 multiple times in his order, the perpetrators of 9/11 came from none of the countries currently being targeted. In fact, those nations have been exempted.

His [now-implemented] list doesn’t include Muslim-majority countries where his Trump Organization has done business or pursued potential deals.

Instead, the order targets the nations where Muslim refugees fleeing violence are most likely to come from: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. Turkey has been seeing waves of terrorism; they are exempt. Neither any of the 9/11 hijackers nor the Boston Marathon bombers were from any of these nations.

The order is aimed at refugees, not terrorists. And with the Trump administration's specified directive placing Christian refugees over Muslim refugees, in any future refugee admissions, it is demonstrably a religious test for entry. "

All of those "refugees" come from countries that make it impossible to vet. Who do you intend to ask about the person's character and associates his six goats? Those countries that are exempted at least have a government that allows for the persons character to be scrutinized.

all the Progbot 'fake' news sites are parroting this ... including NPR

My criteria is simple:

If it is published in "Think" "Progress", or DailyKos, or Mother Jones, or Alternet, or "Truth" Out, or any of the other progbot blogs that use "fact" in their URL, I don't even read it. If NPR or MSNBC or any other more mainstream news outlet links to any of those blogs as a source, I assume they're republishing lies because it fits their progbot agenda.

"Well Factcheck says...."

Yeah, we're done here.

The order barred U.S. border agents from removing anyone who arrived in the U.S. with a valid visa from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. It also covered anyone with an approved refugee application. The Department of Homeland Security said that more than 170 people were denied entry to the U.S. as of Saturday night, according to Reuters.

It excludes Saudi, Egypt and Jordon.

The list makes perfect sense to me. Funny too..that Barry the SCOAMF was the one that made the list in the first place.

Think about it Boy, with the ransom paid by Obama, and the Nuke Deal, then add Hillary's payment received, if your girl Hillary had won the same would have occurred.

OOPS, nope the terrorists would already be here.

Here is the substance of that racism, bigotry and Islamophobia, straight from the executive order:

The United States cannot, and should not, admit those who do not support the Constitution, or those who would place violent ideologies over American law. In addition, the United States should not admit those who engage in acts of bigotry or hatred (including “honor” killings, other forms of violence against women, or the persecution of those who practice religions different from their own) or those who would oppress Americans of any race, gender, or sexual orientation.

So acting to prevent people who have no intention of obeying American law and approve of honor killings, other violence against women, and the persecution of non-Muslims and gays is such an outrage that Leftists have begun nationwide protests. Meanwhile, in response to a lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), federal judge Ann Donnelly on Saturday night issued an emergency stay, barring U.S. officials from deporting people who were being detained at airports. According to CBS News, “the order barred U.S. border agents from removing anyone who arrived in the U.S. with a valid visa from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. It also covered anyone with an approved refugee application.”

However, it didn’t cover those who had not yet made the trip. The Department of Homeland Security announced on Sunday morning that it would “continue to enforce all of President Trump’s Executive Orders in a manner that ensures the safety and security of the American people. President Trump’s Executive Orders remain in place—prohibited travel will remain prohibited, and the U.S. government retains its right to revoke visas at any time if required for national security or public safety. President Trump’s Executive Order affects a minor portion of international travelers, and is a first step towards reestablishing control over America’s borders and national security.”

I was gonna say, didn't obama shut down Iranians in 2011 without so much as a peep from the left media and not a protester could be found.

When Obama did it, it was for the greater good. When Trump does it, it's because he's a racist Islamophobe.

ah but Trump pulled countries right off of Obama OWN list from the DHS

Yeah, JUST read that.

I swear, just about every initial report I read about this is distorted. I have friends on Facebook still calling it a Muslim ban and are going all ballistic over banning someone on the basis of religion.
One in particular is highly intelligent - and a Muslim relative - and has written of his experience in escaping war-torn Afghanistan.

But he clearly has not read much beyond the headlines, as evidenced by his otherwise well written and passionate response.

No. It's because he was too stupid to NOT gather around Chuck Schumer and some D's in the House and do a joint announcement on something so guaranteed to stir up outrage.

Because they've shown themselves to be so reasonable about something as innocuous as approving a Cabinet appointee?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess, they don't plan to be on his side for any reason, even if the world was ending.

The Past Six Presidents Have All Used The Executive Power To Block Certain Classes Of Immigrants

Donald Trump has received much flak from Democrats and Republicans alike for his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the U.S through executive authority. However, the past six presidents have all used the executive power to bar different classes of immigrants...

... President Barack Obama has used the authority this statute provides six times in his tenure...

... Former President George W.Bush used this authority six times as well during his tenure...

... Then in January of 1998, Clinton signed an order “barring entry for members of the military junta in Sierra Leone, and their families.”...

... Former President George H.W Bush only used this executive authority once in his four years of office...

... Former President Ronald Reagan used this executive authority five times while in office.
