Just listened to some Liberal pundit talking about Trumps cut to the "Arts".....

How much culture we will lose. All I see more funding of Jesus with feces......

Who funded Michaelangelo...Bernini, and daVinci.....?

Artists should find patrons, like back in the good old days, or they should create on their own. Not sure why we fund that with our tax dollars. If it were me, I'd cut it entirely.

But most art in the human sphere is not sponsored, and all culture is reflective of people, not financed.

Same thing with science - just because a government doesn't bankroll it doesn't mean it won't flourish.

The web has provided the access and the ability to reach out to the whole freaking world and say "this is what I do' and ask for support. It's a wonderful thing.

a painter might make money doing a Portrait of the local Duke, Baron or King ... then convince him to 'sponsor' some other work or live off the paying job to do your own work.
