Sanders: I understand you are a Christian! But this country are made of people who are not just — I understand that Christianity is the majority religion, but there are other people of different religions in this country and around the world. In your judgment, do you think that people who are not Christians are going to be condemned?

Vought: Thank you for probing on that question. As a Christian, I believe that all individuals are made in the image of God and are worthy of dignity and respect regardless of their religious beliefs. I believe that as a Christian that’s how I should treat all individuals . . .

Sanders: You think your statement that you put into that publication, they do not know God because they rejected Jesus Christ, His Son, and they stand condemned, do you think that’s respectful of other religions?

Vought: Senator, I wrote a post based on being a Christian and attending a Christian school that has a statement of faith that speaks clearly in regard to the centrality of Jesus Christ in salvation.

Sanders: I would simply say, Mr. Chairman, that this nominee is really not someone who this country is supposed to be about.

Before Sanders ran for President he was a nothing commie leaning Vermont Senator with no senate bills or credibility to amount to much.

Well he saw a shot. No one was running against Hillary. What did he have to lose? Nothing ,and everything to gain.
He would have campaign funds and trips all over the country to campaign, and people would treat him like he was someone .
He knew he had little chance to win, but why not have some fun.
In fact he surprised himself and the Democrats.
You see a lot of Democrats saw through Hillary too.
They didn't want the criminal in the WH either, so Bernie started looking good.
Fact is if Bernie had won the Primary he would have won the election. IMO

Many Republicans would have voted for Bernie instead of Trump, but they couldn't stomach Hillary
The Democrats decided to give Bernie the bum's rush and screwed themselves out of the election.
Now after making such a good run for president, Bernie is still the same old know nothing Commie he always was, but he thinks he is relevant.
Thus he cannot just go to his vacation home that Hillary bought him and STFU.

Good post! :yay: None of them can STFU because they lost their plan/agenda to transform America. That is how close we came to going over the cliff (Baja's words). Where is Baja? I miss him. Anyway, Trump stopped the commie/socialist crap for now, but don't think it is over. The Left will turn themselves inside out and keep exposing their innards to get Trump impeached. What I don't get is if Trump is impeached, they will get Pence. One of the most ethical, family oriented, straight forward politicians I have seen in my life time. :killingme: Even though, I am not a true Trumpian, I was glad to see the outcome of the past election. It means that I am not living amongst the lobotomized walking dead that I truly thought were out there. :patriot:

So you think this was a vicious attack but see Nothing wrong with telling people they are going to burn in hell because they don't agree with your religion?

Wow. What a tolerant loving Christian you seem to be.

Why do you bring up tolerance? You have none.

The POINT -

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE it yourself - why should it make any difference to you?

a Muslim or Jew will tell you the same thing .... and it has NOTHING to do with Tolerance

Exactly - *tolerance* is allowing people to believe and follow their beliefs as they want, even if you hate those beliefs and think they're wrong.
Sanders is exhibiting "left-wing" tolerance - if I don't find your views disagreeable, I will tolerate them. If I do, I won't.

In this instance, it is *Sanders* who is being intolerant.

The primary engine for Sanders' campaign was - he wasn't Hillary. Enough Democrats, millennials and independents wanted something else, anything else.
Was he inspirational? Was he charismatic? Did he have a spelled out plan for how he planned to lead? No - not really. But he had more than Hillary.
And frankly, more than Martin O'Malley but that's not saying much.

I think it's necessary to say that, not only is Christianity the majority religion, it's the majority of our population over all - BY FAR! That doesn't mean we are a Christian nation in terms of government and such; but it does mean that Christians are going to get their way most of the time simply because everyone else - all included - is outnumbered.

Hey, don't blame Christians for that. God made that decision. So, take it up with Him. He's the one that won't tolerate those that don't believe in Him.

What does the person's faith have to do with the nomination? Is Sanders implying that the nominee utilize faith when making decisions as a government employee, not laws and such?

Do you know how many religious people I've known who have tried to persuade me by informing me of the consequences of the rejection of their religion?
"You don't want to leave Mormonism! You'll lose your level of glory!"

If you DON'T believe in it, it shouldn't be something that bothers you.

I think there's a *popular* notion that people believe that if you THINK they're going to hell, you must THINK they're irredeemably wicked, on a par with Hitler and you are above them.
Which isn't the Christian message at all - the Christian gospel is that the whole world is running straight over a cliff into hell - and you do what you can to SAVE them.
It has absolutely nothing to do with being morally superior, because you aren't saved by superior morals.
It's more like everyone is dying of cancer and you have a cure - it doesn't make you better.

I don't want to get preachy - but even if Sanders is only nominally Jewish, it's not as though most of the world's religions don't have the same exclusivity.
Jews even have words for "non-Jews" - just as many other religions do. Heathen. Infidel. Kafir. Pagan. Gentile. Dhimmi. (I'm running out of ones I can think of).

Vicious circle....

By Sanders saying that his Christianity does not allow him to be tolerant of others and that they are "condemned to hell," isn't he showing INTOLERANCE towards his religious beliefs?

It's a wedge issue for people like Sanders. When they feel it's necessary to put that weapon out, they will use it.
