Driver of Vehicle 1 / Deceased: Devon Terrell Hardwick, 25 years old of Baltimore, Maryland
Driver of Vehicle 2: Jose Miguel Nieto Cruz, 28 years old of Raeford, North Carolina
Driver of Vehicle 3: Abelmajid El Harrak, 51 years old of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

(Greenbelt, MD) On 06/28/2017 at approximately 1030 p.m., members of the College Park Barrack were dispatched to the outer loop of I-495 north of Kenilworth Ave, Greenbelt, Prince George’s County, Maryland regarding a three vehicle collision.


Preliminary investigation revealed that vehicle 1 was changing lanes from lane 3 to lane 2. Vehicle 1 struck the rear of vehicle 2. The collision caused the operator of vehicle 2 to lose control of the vehicle and subsequently strike the driver’s side of vehicle 3. As a result of the collision, the operator of the motorcycle was ejected and struck the guardrail located on the left shoulder. The driver of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance from the scene to Prince George’s Trauma Center where he was pronounced deceased early this morning.


Maryland State Police Crash Team responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.


The cause of the collision is still under investigation. We urge all citizens to travel at the posted speed limit at all times, use signals and check your blind spots when traveling on the roadway.
