BREAKING: DNC, Hillary Campaign Paid To Compile Trump-Russia Dossier, Clinton Lawyer Allegedly Lied About It

Earlier this year, BuzzFeed News broke a shocking story: the FBI had reported an intelligence dossier making its way around Washington, D.C. to President Trump. That dossier contained allegations ranging from the credible to the wild — the wildest, of course, being the accusation that Trump had hired prostitutes while in Moscow to urinate on a bed slept on by the Obamas. The dossier itself, compiled by one British spy named Christopher Steele, had been commissioned by a Democratic firm called Fusion GPS.

Now we learn from The Washington Post that the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee were behind funding the dossier:

The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said. Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research. After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to those people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Clinton campaign lawyer Elias allegedly denied for a year that he had anything to do with the dossier. That appeared to be a lie, according to Maggie Haberman of The New York Times:

REPORT: Hillary Clinton’s Campaign, DNC Funded Trump Dossier. Here’s What You Need To Know.

The bombshell report from The Washington Post comes just days after Clinton told C-SPAN that President Trump and Fox News were trying to distract the nation from the “real Russian ties between Trump associates and real Russians,” and that the real story was how “nervous” the Trump administration was becoming.

In that vein, here is what you need to know from The Washington Post’s report:

  • Marc E. Elias, an attorney who represented Clinton’s campaign and the DNC, used Fusion GPS to conduct “research” on then-candidate Donald Trump.
  • According to sources, Fusion GPS hired former British intelligence official Christopher Steele to compile the dossier.
  • Elias reportedly retained Fusion GPS starting in April 2016 “on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC” — right before Trump became the GOP presumptive nominee — all the way until the end of October 2016.
  • Prior to working for the Clinton campaign and the DNC, Fusion GPS began researching Trump and was funded by “a still unknown Republican client.”
  • While it is still unknown how much was paid for the dossier, the Post alleges that the Clinton campaign and the DNC paid Elias’ law firm, Perkins Coie, a total of $9.2 million from June 2015 through December 2016.
  • The Post claims that neither the Clinton campaign nor the DNC directed Steele’s activities who then shared some of his findings with officials at the FBI.
  • “After the election, the FBI agreed to pay Steele to continue gathering intelligence about Trump and Russia, but the bureau pulled out of the arrangement after Steele was publicly identified in news reports,” the Post reports.

DNC Head Denies Involvement In Trump-Russia Dossier, But There's One Thing He's Not Saying.
"Tom Perez and the new leadership of the DNC were not involved in any decision-making regarding Fusion GPS ..."

"Tom Perez and the new leadership of the DNC were not involved in any decision-making regarding Fusion GPS, nor were they aware that Perkins Coie was working with the organization," reads the carefully phrased statement issued by DNC Communications Director Xochital Hinojosa Tuesday evening.

"But let's be clear, there is a serious federal investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia, and the American public deserves to know what happened," the statement concludes in an overt attempt to redirect focus back to the Trump-Russia "collusion" narrative. Here's the complete statement:

Tom Perez and the new leadership of the DNC were not involved in any decision-making regarding Fusion GPS, nor were they aware that Perkins Coie was working with the organization.

But let's be clear, there is a serious federal investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia, and the American public deserves to know what happened.

The circumspect phrasing of the statement makes clear that neither Perez, who was elected to the position in late February 2017, nor the DNC's "new leadership" are willing to deny what the former leadership did or didn't do regarding the dossier. The DNC's overt attempt to distance itself from the actions of the former leadership only underscores that Democrats fully understand that connection to the aptly nicknamed "dirty dossier" is politically damaging.

Marc Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington, D.C., firm, to conduct the research. Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community.

Elias and his law firm, Seattle-based Perkins Coie, retained the firm in April 2016 on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Before that agreement, Fusion GPS’ research into Trump was funded by a still unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC, through the law firm, continued to fund Fusion GPS’ research through the end of October 2016, days before Election Day.

Fusion GPS gave Steele’s reports and other research documents to Elias, the people familiar with the matter said. It is unclear how or how much of that information was shared with the campaign and DNC, and who in those organizations was aware of the roles of Fusion GPS and Steele.

Fusion GPS’ work researching Trump began during the Republican presidential primaries when the GOP donor paid for the firm to investigate.

When the Republican donor stopped paying for the research, Elias, acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC, agreed to pay for the work to continue.

How much money has been spent by Mueller to investigate the Russian alleged collusion of President Trump because of this.
The investigation is still ongoing and Mueller is investigating the wrong person.

Why does the posting dildo say
Prior to working for the Clinton campaign and the DNC, Fusion GPS began researching Trump and was funded by “a still unknown Republican client.”
I would want to ignore this. I would love to know the Mother truckers name and who the Republican client was.

This whole Russian thing has backfired on the Clintons, but of course nothing will be done Hillary is too big to prosecute.
Just check this off as another Democrat dirty trick like how they screwed over Bernie.

Sometime in October 2016 — that is, at the height of the presidential campaign — Christopher Steele, the foreign agent hired by Fusion GPS to compile the Trump dossier, approached the FBI with information he had gleaned during the project. According to a February report in the Washington Post, Steele "reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work."

It was an astonishing turn: the nation's top federal law enforcement agency agreeing to fund an ongoing opposition research project being conducted by one of the candidates in the midst of a presidential election. "The idea that the FBI and associates of the Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for president in the run-up to the election raises further questions about the FBI's independence from politics, as well as the Obama administration's use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends," wrote Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

As more and more is revealed about the dirty tricks played by the Democrats I am even more happy with my vote for Trump.
I am certain that a corrupt Democrat party that would get themselves involved in such dirty tricks would have been a disaster for this country.

The corruption of Hillary, Pelosi, Schumer, and Washerwoman are absolutely stunning.

Gonna be tough to drain a swamp as large as the one Obama created in the Government.
Remember this . Most of those people Obama owned in Government offices are still there.

Obama didn't build that. That swamp has been growing and festering for decades. You can't blame Obama for the current state of our government - he was just a puppet, not the puppetmaster.

Agree, he is not solely to blame. But, "don't hate the playa, hate the game" is a pretty low bar for our elected officials to reach.

When I hire a chief executive of the government, I want him or her to make the government better, not worse. Obama did make a bad situation worse, not better. For that amount, he certainly deserves blame.

This isn't done yet. I'm willing to bet there are more - far more - dems to be implicated; to include many in the media.

Why do you think her biggest supporters - the prog media - are now turning on her? A year ago they'd have never published that story. Now that she's making a deranged spectacle of herself, they want her gone. They tried asking her nicely, but her ego and sense of entitlement is too big for that. Now they're telling her: "Get lost."

It is gratifying, however, to see Hillary gored by the ox she was in bed with her whole adult life. See, Hillary? You're not special after all.
