Charles County Government Opening at 10 a.m. on Jan. 5

Due to anticipated freezing road conditions and for the safety of our county employees and residents, Charles County Government will open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 with the liberal leave policy in effect for all non-essential employees. Essential personnel and employees required to maintain operations during inclement weather are to report to work as scheduled.

School status for Friday, Jan 5

Anne Arundel County Public Schools:2 hour delay

UPDATE PG County Public Schools: Closed

Charles County Public Schools: Closed. There is a code two, which is a two-hour delay, for staff who follow the code system.

Calvert County Public Schools: Closed.

College of Southern Maryland: All campuses closed.

And St. Mary's calls it - schools closed Friday! with a Code 3 for employees.

Calvert Hospice‏ will open at 11 am on Friday, January 5.


Calvert County government offices and circuit and district courts will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 5, due to continued frigid temperatures, wind-driven snow drifts, black ice conditions and hypothermia threats.

The following Calvert County services are affected by the closure:

• All Calvert County government offices are closed Jan. 5.

• The Calvert County circuit and district courts are closed Jan. 5.

• County bus service is not available Jan. 5.

• All county Parks and Recreation activities, rentals and programs are canceled for Jan. 5.

• The county’s community centers, nature center, parks, the Chesapeake Hills Golf Course and the Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center are closed Jan. 5.

• County convenience centers and the Appeal Landfill are closed Jan. 5.

• Calvert County libraries are closed Jan. 5.

• The Calvert Marine Museum will be closed Jan. 5

St. Mary's County Government Operational Status Update

UPDATE

St. Mary's County government offices will open at 10am today.

St. Mary's County snow plows continue to work to clear county roads in concert with State Highway Administration crews who continue to tackle state roads. Operations are expected to continue into the evening. Drivers are asked to curtail all unnecessary travel for the remainder of the day and tonight, Snow covered roads are expected to freeze over, making for very treacherous driving conditions.

As progress continues to be made, an official announcement regarding county government operations for Friday, January 5, will be made at or before 6 a.m.

UPDATE
On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 NAS Patuxent River/NRC Solomons will open for normal operations at 9 a.m.
On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 Webster Field will remain in Restricted Access until 12 p.m.



NAS Patuxent River Operating under Delayed Opening/Unscheduled Leave/Telework Status due to Weather for Jan. 5, 2018

NAS Patuxent River/Webster Field/NRC Solomons remain in Restricted Access status overnight Jan. 4, 2018.

On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 Webster Field will remain in Restricted Access until road conditions on and around the field can be further evaluated.

On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 NAS Patuxent River/NRC Solomons will delay opening until 9 a.m. Critical personnel must report to work as previously scheduled. Civil service employees designated non-critical who choose to report to work will be granted admin leave for the hours before the set delayed opening time. Civil service employees may take a combination of unscheduled leave, telework and/or leave without pay (LWOP) for the entire day. Civil service employees choosing not to use a combination of unscheduled annual leave, telework, and/or LWOP should report to work at 9 a.m. Check with your command for specific guidance. Contract employees should contact their company for guidance.

Drivers are reminded that although roads and parking lots will have been cleared, conditions will continue to be slick in some spots due to drifting snow and extremely low temperatures. Please drive slower, with extra caution, an allow extra time for your commute

An update on the operating status of Webster Field will be provided at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 5, 2018.

Charles County Operating Status Updates for Jan. 5
Due to inclement weather, Charles County Government will open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 with the liberal leave policy in effect for all non-essential employees.

The following facilities and services will begin operations at 10 a.m.:
• Crain Memorial Welcome Center
• Charles County Circuit Court and District Court
• Charles County Health Department

The following facilities and services will be closed:
• Nanjemoy Community Center
• All senior centers
• Meals on Wheels program
• All school-based community centers
• Lackey High School, Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center, and North Point High School indoor pools.
• Charles County Public Schools and activities
• College of Southern Maryland (all campuses)

The following facilities will operate on time:
• Charles County Landfill, Landfill Recycling Center, and Pisgah Recycling Center
• Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center
• Port Tobacco Recreation Center
• Charles County Public Library (all Branches)

St. Mary’s County Government Operational Status for January 5

County crews have continued their work to clear roadways. However, some icy spots remain. Drivers are asked to use caution when venturing out today.

The following delays and schedule changes will be in effect for
January 5:

All St. Mary’s County Administrative Offices will open at 10 a.m.

All St. Mary’s County Public Schools will be closed for students. Code 3 for employees.

Non-Public School transportation will not operate

All Recreation and Parks programs operating in the Public Schools are cancelled.

Recreation and Parks facilities will open at 10 a.m. However, the Great Mills Swimming Pool and Gymnastics Center are closed for mechanical repairs

STS Transit will not operate until noon at the earliest. A final determination will be made later this morning.

The six (6) Convenience Centers and St, Andrews Landfill will open at noon.

All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) will open at 10 a.m. However, there will be no Meals on Wheels deliveries or meals served at the centers

All St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown & Lexington Park) will open at 10 a.m.

St. Mary’s County Circuit Courthouse will open at 9 a.m. Court session will begin at 10 a.m.

St. Mary’s County District Courthouse will open at noon, Court session will begin at 1 p.m.

All College of Southern Maryland campuses are closed

NAS Pax River and Solomons Recreational Complex will open at 9 a.m.
Webster Field is under restricted access

Comptroller of MD

The Comptroller's offices in Salisbury and Waldorf are closed today, January 5, 2018, due to inclement weather. The Upper Marlboro office will open at 10:30 a.m. All other offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
