Why is the United States responsible for the rest of the World?

Maybe because responsibilities come with being the "leader of the free world"?

Maybe because responsibility comes with being the world's only (for now) super power?

Maybe because responsibility comes with being the country with the world's biggest (for now) economy and richest nation?

Maybe because responsibility comes with being the country with over 240 years of experience with a democratic form of govt?

But the real question is: why don't you understand any of the above? You stake your claim to "patriot" status in almost every post and you don't understand that this country has a duty and responsibility to the rest of the world? That we should be that goal every other country should strive for? To be the standard bearer and example to every other citizen on this planet that they too should have the ability to move freely, to worship freely, to think freely, to speak freely, to live freely?

She understand all of the above.
What she doesn't understand is why people like you are trying to subvert our election process.

Yeah... no, that's not it. Nice try though.

In reality they don't want to be responsible for the rest of the world… They just have an overwhelming compulsion to control everything and everyone.

Utter bullcrap, poopy drawers. Not one thing you listed implies or demands that we let a single solitary person in. You literally made that chit up.

Go back to figuring out how you could pay your 2019 property taxes early so you deduct it in 2017. Make yourself useful, for a change.

As in, none of it.

Not one thing.

Not even a little bit.

What's hilarious is that they cry and pule that the US must "do something! :drama:" but when the US *does* do something, they cry and pule about "imperialism".

:roflmao:

They don't want to fix problems, they just want to pretend to help so they can feel good about themselves.

Right question. Wrong frame.

You need to rephrase the question to a more personnel level. It should be...

“Why am I responsible for the people around me?”

You’re not.

You are not responsible for people who succeed or fail in life. Some actually choose to fail. Some don't even try. You’re not responsible for people who have children they can’t afford (expecting others to pay their way feeding, educating and/or clothing them). You’re not responsible for dictators, assassins, criminals, drugs, homeless, the hungry, the sick, felons and other types. You are not responsible for successful TV/movie stars, business moguls, etc… as an individual.

The overload of info (no longer just questionable commercial news, no longer true or false, but social news) has made you feel sympathy, empathy (even guilt) at those in less-comfortable, more dire situations.

Don’t let it.

You are no more responsible for it all than the United States is. Indeed, the United States may be a lesser extension of your true worthiness and sympathy.

Stop with the over-burdensome ‘news’. Except for voting, there is very little you can do about it anyway. Turn it off. Smell the flowers and breath the air. Enjoy the children and grandchildren. Forgive yourself

Very good advice. Life is too short. Thank you for your very thoughtful post. It is funny you should say what you said on this day. We celebrated our granddot’s 2nd birthday today (actual bday is 29th, but grandson’s due date is the 26th). He will be here at any time. Just watching Emmy react today was a joy. I was totally into it all. Helping my dot with everything. I do worry about the future of my progeny. Thanks again. Your post was very calming. It is funny, too, that hub, always says I am sick of listening to the news,, and all the crap, and changes the channel. You are both right.

This part of your post struck me as funny. You don’t seem to like the thinking, speaking, and living freely thing, unless people agree with you. Just sayin’. Do you understand the definition of hypocrite? Just wonderin’.
