Where's the outrage?

Here we are again...with one party rule...and no budget:

Republicans, who have majorities in both the House of Representatives and Senate, are eyeing another short-term spending bill to keep the government open beyond Friday and also need to win support from fiscal conservatives in their own party.

If Congress approves a temporary “continuing resolution” to keep the government funded through Feb. 16, it would be the fourth such measure since the 2018 federal fiscal year began on Oct. 1.

Where is the outrage from the right? You all had your collective panties all wadded up when this same lack of a budget dragged on and on under the last administration. Now it's ok just like the deficit, I guess?

I don't know about anyone else but my outrage is for both parties being unable/unwilling to find a compromise to put an end to this BS!

are you sure about that short bus .... how many Republicans are siding with democrats
the ain't NO ONE PARTY RULE

Now Why Would YOU Forget to Quote This Part:

The Republicans’ majority in the Senate is slim, meaning they need some Democratic support to pass a government funding measure.

Not sure what posts on here would lead you to believe anyone cares about the deficit.

Remember, GOP shutting down govt. (thus "forcing active military to go without pay") due to Obamacare, good. Dems shutting down (thus "forcing active military to go without pay") due to immigration discussion, bad.

Now, by "one party rule", do you mean that if all the Republicans were unified, they could pass ANYTHING without Democratic votes? Do you know how the Senate works?

We do not have one party rule. We have checks and balances on the checks and balances by having a Senate that requires (at least for one hell of a long time) a super-majority to get anything done.

So, are you calling for McConnell to utilize the so-called "nuclear option"?

I know of no conservative who is ok with the deficit. As I recall, most everyone on here has decried the spending - even under Trump.

There's a pretty huge difference. Back then, the Democratics were calling for a clean spending bill with no riders. Now, they want riders in order to fund the rest of government.

Republicans are giving them what they asked for, now they don't want it.

But, they didn't want it then, either. Recall the Senate Majority Leader, Sen Reid (D), said:

He simply couldn't fathom why people should be able to use a non-funding issue to hold up government funding. He chastised Dana Bash for suggesting that one of his own argument (kids with cancer) be funded - "why would I [help even one kid with cancer]?", he asked; he called into question her intelligence for even asking.

So, now, they have a non-funding issue that they want to use to hold up government funding.

Regardless of details, Congress literally has a few jobs they have to do. In recent history, no one has budget talks until the final hour. No one interested in spending less. No one interested in anything but their cult's wants.

In both cases, govt. shutdowns exist.

The details matter when you say, "GOP does it, good. Democratics do it, bad."

I would point out that, first off, if it happens now it would be the same as then - it would be a Democratic shutdown, not a Republican one. Regardless of who the media tells us to blame either time.

But, in general, I agree they are supposed to have an actual omnibus or series of individual spending bills passed and signed prior to the end of September each year. I would further agree that they need to cut spending and overreach.

But, the details mattered in response to what you said.

In typical liberal self-unaware fashion, progressives fail to remember how President Obama blew off his legal obligation to submit a budget proposal by the statutory deadline in seven of his eight years at the helm

Those tardy Obama budget requests were eventually received by Congress—and laughed out of the chamber. In a 414-0 wipeout vote in 2012, for instance, Obama achieved rare bipartisanship
