Teenage Survivors Are Not Immune from Criticism When They Push Gun Control

The newest iteration of the gun control debate concerns whether teenage survivors of last week’s shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, should be immune from criticism when they argue for gun control. This is a relatively new question: other school shootings, like Sandy Hook in 2012, have involved children too young to have opinions. But the answer is no: once you enter the political arena, your views are fair game.Democrats have perfected the art of using sympathetic public figures to argue for positions most Americans reject, then accusing critics of mean-spiritedness when they disagree.

They either want to be treated like grownups or they don't.

But the Left does this constantly: sets up a "victim" activist and makes them untouchable. They can say or do whatever foolish thing, and if you dare criticize them or even disagree with them you are an "inhumane monster!!! :cds:" They did it with the 9-11 widows and they do it with black people all the time. Criminals' mothers are typically held up as paragons of virtue who are immune from disagreement. This is called something in sociology terms but I don't remember what it is.

I don't think anybody feels good about calling out these kids, but they have taken over our national narrative and responsible people cannot let that pass because it's too important.

If you attack the very document, (by wanting to ignore parts and pass laws that violate it), that founded this country, then one should expect a fierce blow-back, regardless of age or victim status.

Cindy Sheehan. The Shahs. List is endless. Same routine - trot out a victim, give them their talking points, feign umbrage when their remarks are challenged.
After their moment - forget all about them.

WTF does that even mean. They have expressed that they are scared of being killed by preventable gun violence while in school. End of story. That is not a narrative they are trying to control. They re literally begging for adults to do something to save their lives and you heartless monsters are more concerned with your ability to buy and own guns like Ar-15's unfettered.

Remember when just last year Trump made it easier for mentally ill people to acquire guns?

"The Obama rule would have prevented an estimated 75,000 people with mental disorders from being able to purchase a firearm. It was crafted as part of Obama’s efforts to strengthen the federal background check system in the wake of the 2012 massacre of 20 young students and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The rule was rescinded using a legal procedure called the the Congressional Review Act, which, prior to the Trump Administration, was obscure and little-used. It allows regulations passed in the final days of one administration to be rescinded with a simple majority vote in both chambers of Congress during the first 60 days of a new administration. The Senate sent their repeal of the Obama-era measure for Trump’s signature on 15 February 2017 — a year and a day before the Parkland shooting — and Trump signed it into law the next week, on 28 February 2017"

Colton Haab, a student who survived last week’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, refused to participate in a CNN Town Hall on Wednesday night after he was told to ask a “scripted” question.
Haab, a junior at the high school, told Fort Lauderdale ABC affiliate WPLG that CNN invited him to speak at the televised town hall in nearby Sunrise, Florida, and that he and his parents had dressed up for the occasion.

Yeah. Stupid associated press. Just reporting the facts all the time.

Go back to Brietbart or Freedomeagle.altrighttrash.com

The AP has been guilty of biased reporting on MANY occasions..not just this one. ;-)

Just because someone has another person managing their finances does not automatically mean they are mentally ill or mentally disabled. Ole Barry was simply looking for an "easy" way to strip more people of their 2A rights. He did love his EOs...

Jesus. It is like you are trying to be a hypocrite with every post now.

Do you not realize Trump is on track to sign more than Obama already?

Do you not realize the article I posted is just facts. Not editorializing.

Do you care about anything but getting the last word?

Your family must hate you . You are on of those people people who mutters under their breath to get the last word in.

Still beating that dead horse? It's been explained to you several times here, and you still beat it.

By the way. What would have prevented this shooting? Tell us oh wise one.

We could start by banning Ar -15's for anyone other than military or police. Problem solved

most of us don't count an EO that cancels a previous EO in that number, just as a return to the status quo.

That's already in place. Free citizens of the US being the unit, in unitary. Think militia. What's your problem? :eyebrow:

the AP wouldn't know the truth if somebody rammed it up their ass with the air horn blaring.
