Cynthia Nixon on Steve Colbert

Any of you haters watching Steve Colbert?

Cynthia Nixon just gave the most accurate expression of the progressive platform...including frustration of the new gilded class, taxation, and of attacks against persons who were charged on marijuana

Long story short, liberals have NEVER been more motivated, leftist ideas will will be the norm 1 year from now.

Buckle up butter cup

The buckle up is a good idea. We have been buckling for years, pun intended. America is in trouble within their own confines; thanks to non patriots and seekers of elitist power, aka socialism and communism. I don’t get why some want that; not to mention that our younger generations are clueless. If the change in America truly comes to pass, it will be in the next 30 years, or so. I won’t have to worry about it because I will be dead (I am 63), but I worry about my children and grandchildren. God bless the USA.

No no, equivalent thoughts are coming now

yeah ok and Hillary won the election

She not a progressive liberal; Bernie would have won, you know it. This country is desperate for a progressive populist, that's why Trump is in, it's the best we could get.

We'll see. Conservativism is dead, we know that much. All those religious right people, yeah, sorry for their luck. But I also don't think the crazy extreme progs will take hold, either. We're being conditioned by the media and our pop culture to embrace it, but I think most people know extremism when they see it. I think of "progressives" as the extreme wing of the liberal platform, so your definition of that may be different than mine.

Didn't you say the same thing about global warming 10-12 yrs ago??

I did, and we are in the middle of this grand experiment of filling the air full of gases that have never been there in the amounts they are now.

That isn't even CLOSE to true.

Ok, to clarify...

In concentrations during which modern humanity has existed, so the last 100k years? better?

Also, I have no interest in defending the idea of Climate change, it's happening, I'm tired talking about it. In my naive youth I thought we'd (the U.S.) would take charge in fixing it, I was so wrong. The Chinese will lead the way and we will be the new Britain.

yes the climate changes all the time, it is arrogant to thing Man can change the global climate

especially since 'environmentalists' keep moving the goal posts of when the disaster will start now its 100 yrs from now

Gore said 20 yrs ago WE NEED TO ACT NOW .... well where are the melted polar ice caps now 20 yrs later - oh yeah never happened
Climatologists are continually caught cooking the books ... why do they need to cherry pick data if Science is on THEIR Side

starting in 2011 there was a down turn in Solar Activity after a 15 yr high ....
... oh look Ice so thick the next 4 yearly scientific research groups got STUCK in the ICE trying to get to the Arctic Circle for their Annul Research

The climate in fact changes. It's always been changing. We can't "fix" it because it's nature. Anyone who denies the climate is changing is being a dumbass.

I also think you may be right about the US becoming marginalized and losing its super power status. We've become victims of our own success and prosperity, like so many empires before us.

Ha! Sure, we can't affect anything. Want to take a trip back to the 70s in LA? Smog?

What about the Ozone hole? we kinda caused that and then corrected it.

And YES I know the examples I'm giving are not "Global Warming", etc, but they are proof that we are able to influence the atmosphere in unintentional, but negative, ways.

Like I said, this is an experiment. I personally think it's a good idea to conserve resources.

Gore spoke in absolutes which is always a bad idea when talking about the future.

as far as I remember the whole CFC hole in the Ozone was Envro / Press Ginned up hysteria what we would call today Fake News

:yay:

yeah OK point taken about the LA Smog ... but is that really Global

I have no issues with this .... nor should we dump crap / chemicals into water ways

Cleaner Air is a Good thing ... but there reaches a point of diminished returns
like Vehicle Fuel Efficiency ... eventually you have to decide Safety or 50 mpg

So what do we know now? As far as ozone depletion is concerned, the thinning of the ozone layer that occurred throughout the 1980s apparently stopped in the early 1990s, too soon to credit the Montreal Protocol. A 1998 World Meteorological Organization (WMO) report said that, "since 1991, the linear [downward] trend observed during the 1980s has not continued, but rather total column ozone has been almost constant …" However, the same report noted that the stratospheric concentrations of the offending compounds were still increasing through 1998. This lends credence to the skeptical view, widely derided at the time of the Montreal Protocol, that natural variations better explain the fluctuations in the global ozone layer.

as with CO2 there are continuing natural variations
