Dozens of the properties were bought at a discount in 2013, after banks foreclosed on their previous owners for defaulting on mortgages. Before and after then, Hannity sharply criticised Barack Obama for the US foreclosure rate. In January 2016, Hannity said there were “millions more Americans suffering under this president” partly because of foreclosures.

I would guess Hannity saw what was happening and saw a way to make a buck off it.
Not against the law to profit when you see what's happening.

Some woman tried to "come forward" a couple years ago but Hannity outed her on his show and called her a liar, exposed her as a politically motivated shakedown artist. That's probably why you don't get many of these paid bimbos barking up his ass: because he won't cower and run.
