Fox News at 7:00pm ran an interview with a media polling research center
fellow, who stated through polling - nearly 1,000 people overnight felt that this was a major reason they did not vote for Kerry.

He was seen as out-of-touch with the mainstream middle America. When Whoopi Goldberg was seriously ragging on the president, at a Democratic fund raiser, and J. F. Kerry was spotted on the same stage, declaring: "These are my People!", it turned a LOT of folks off.

Too bad for J. effing Kerry!

He said, in his Concession Speech today that he'd learned much while out there touring the country, during his campaign across America.

Too late, pal!

Ah, humility is an asset my friend.
My MIL is a Democrat who voted for Bush. I told her that hopefully this will be the death knell for the "modern" Democratic party and they can get back to their roots. She said she hoped so and that it would feel good to vote Democrat again.

So look on the bright side - the days of the DU are over. The Democrats will fire McAuliffe and try to turn their party back around. They'll give up on social engineering as a party platform and get back to the business of TRUE liberalism - i.e. sticking up for the little guy and Mother Earth. You'll no longer have to call yourself a "progressive" because "liberal" is such a dirty word.

Good times are ahead.

I have a hard time seeing this happen, but I have this mental image of a conveyor belt, moving to the left, with the democrats just ahead of the republicans; a big gray bin marked "SOCIALISM" is at the end of the line.
Just try to imagine W standing before the AARP saying "Ask not what your Country can do for you...".

I can see the legitimate rise of a fringe party, such as the Constitutionalists, more probable than that big of a reformation of the Democratic party. Neither, sadly, will likely happen anytime soon.

You'll get a kick out of this:

My dear Leo...

...that actually qualifies as one of Fishers more coherent columns.

He only contradicts himself three times that I could find.

Vrai, that's all fine and good - these thoughts that you're hoping for; certainly get rid of McAuliffe - that would be a great start.

However, from watching some of the news talk shows, it seems the Democratic party has become a party of elitists, of intellectuals and snobs. That is one of the big reasons why they do not connect with mainstream America - the folks out there in the heartland, so to speak. They are big on abortion, big on "big spending", fixating on all the old programs, like curing Social Security ills, medical issues for seniors, but they also want to raise your taxes.

The Republican party is seen to have shifted it's base to the heartland; they like GW Bush out there, they like NASCAR races, backyard barbeques, moral leadership, they put great value in Home Security and Family Values. Of all the "Red" states out there, 11 out of 13 passed an amendment affirming their belief that marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

The thing is, with that kind of base thinking, among the movers and shakers of the Democratic party, how are they ever going to get back to the party they once were? The party that really is for the little people, not just the party that says it is.

For example, take the words of the the person I cited from the DU, who posted that he/she was attending law school in Oklahoma, but was going to move to an area where more people would appreciate his/her intellectual prowess - he/she could not connect with the mentality of people in Oklahoma! How typical of what the talk shows are saying.

Does anyone really believe Ted Kennedy, Robt. Byrd, Harry Reid, and Hillary Clinton, for example, really give a rats' azz for the little people?

Good Point. Much like JFKerry they seem to say what they think we want to hear. Just enough to get elected and then shove their agenda down America's throat.

Um, uh, Penn, Hunter...

...I feel it is my duty to point out that, while W got the most votes in the histroy of the republic, Monsieur Kerry got the second most.

3% is nice but it means that out of 100 people in the room 47 disagree with us. Not all of those 47 are Michael Moore drones and many have values not far removed from the majority.

If we want to retain leadership, we ought act like it.

One more YOU BIG IDIOT ... 11-04-2004 07:05 AM Very immature of you, wouldn't you say so?
No, as a matter of fact I wouldn't. I feel that I am only stating the truth as I see it. I think that any celebrity who thinks that anybody should vote a certain way because THEY say so is an idiot. I don't care what their political leanings are, I think they are an idiot either way. I have no problem with them supporting, even endorsing a cand., but come on, organizing the whole concert tour thing was just too much.
