Edit: Let me rephrase that, although I think I would go with .458 SOCOM if I was in the market for a big bore AR, it seems overall the .50 Beowulf is a bit more popular at this time which would make me afraid that the .458 would go by the way side making commercially available ammo almost impossible to find, of course reloaders would have no problem.
That is one of the down sides to the Beowulf right now, limited manufacturing of commerically loaded ammo + it is relatively popular in the big bore AR world, and ammo is hard to find right now. It is too bad no one except AA can produce it as of right now. I was just speculating about the future of the 2 cartridges.
