A buddy of mine had a lift put on at Trick Trucks and is happy with it. However, you might want to give D&G Kustom in Leonardtown a call. Great guys and good work. Keep up the research and don't forget to get an alignment as soon as it's done or have them do it for you.

What kind of truck do you need a lift on? I have installed numerous lifts on trucks. If you want to save money let me know. Im very experienced and do quality work. And this is not an add, just trying to help someone out.

Are you supplying the parts? Although not a custom shop St. Marys Automotive in Callaway does good work and will install your custom parts if you provide them. Trick Trucks was a little pricey last I checked for work.

Crap, I forgot I started this thread! I have an 08, 4Runner, SR5, 4WD. Just looking for a 2-3" lift. Definitely supplying my own parts based on recommendation because I am still researching parts, etc... I want to make sure it gets done right with quality parts that will last.

lols @ Tedj123....whycan't I have neighbors like that. God bless rednecks!

Welcome to Adrenaline Off Road LLC.

Tell him Ponytail (with the red Bigfoot Edition YJ) sent ya.

It's a hike, but you won't find a better, more knowledgeable shop. ASE certified mechs. Md Local that realized his talent and worked his way out of his garage. Jeff is a great guy to get to know, and absolutely loves what he does.

The 4Runner lift isn't that hard when only going up 2-3", if you have the tools, I'd do it in the driveway and save yourself $300-500 bucks.

The only pain you’ll have is with the front coils; but you can get a local shop to swap parts on the strut assembly for $50.

I have a '06 Tacoma and I'm looking at Icon front coilovers with Total Chaos upper control mounts for the front and Wheeler's 1.5" Lift 3 Leaf Progressive Add-A-Leaf next summer.

My old ‘98 Tacoma was lifted with the full Old Man Emu kit and I did it in the driveway. I did take the front coils to a local garage that had a spring compressor to swap out the top plates from the old coils/shock to the new OME coil/shock. In all it took me 1.5 days to do the install by myself.

Ooo... thanks for the replies. I might consider doing this myself then. Ponytail, thanks for the reference... I'll keep them on standby in case I screw it up.

you might search for a local 4 Runner Group / find an online Forum for the truck ... most 4x4 sites have hands one tech articles ....

What is the purpose of a lift on a truck?

My brother wished he had a lift on his truck when one of his dates bottomed out the suspension travel on his truck and had to ride all night listening to the mud tires rubbing on the fender on the passenger side. True story. And a very funny one at that.

It supplements 4WD allowing one to get farther into trouble before needing help.

Don't forget the other key aspect of the sport's vehicular attributes: Huge tires greatly increase stresses on driveline components, assuring that you will break something critically required for locomotion......after you have gotten very far from any source of help, of course.

That's what makes it so much fun.

Of course the biggest obstacle that most of the posers in 4WD trucks ever see is a curb in a parking lot.

it is not a fun outing unless someone breaks something or gets stuck ....

I'm probably reviving an old thread, but sounds like a spacer lift. Just need a set of spring compressors if they go in the coil, and some good hand tools. Nothing major for that.

Toyota Territory Off-Roaders Association (TTORA) is the website to go to. Good group of guys(At least the PA group.) lots of tech info there.
