Unfortunately my Dodge 1500 front axel will not engage when placed into gear and does anyone know of an experienced repair shop in 4WD to troubleshoot the problem, hopefully in southern Calvert Co

It could be something as simple as snow/ice being jammed in the linkage. If you haven't already crawl underneath and check all the shift mechanisims and linkages.

Does your truck have the manual locking hubs?

Good luck!

The Dodge is a 2000 with no front locking hubs. Problem started before all the snow and been under the truck looking for a simple solution. The problem could be a bad transfer switch, front axel vacumm valve, vacumm leak, clogged port I just dont know and is why I need someone knowledgable with these type problems.

In My Opinion
I finally ended up getting rid of my 2001 1500 ram, nothing but problems from it starting the first week I owned it.

best fix for a chrysler product is to trade it on a GMC, Chevy or a Ford.

Had the same thing

happen to my 2000 2500 dodge 4x4. It was the front drive actuator motor bad. Wouldn't engage the front wheel drive axle. I took it to Park Dodge as I needed it to push snow and they fixed it in a couple days. Call and talk to Jeff in service

Went to Park Dodge on Tuesday and ordered the transfer switch for the front axel. If that dosn't work its off a repair shop. Who to go to is again the question
