Cheers my-thyme, here is to many more miles of safe driving.
How has the bike been, any problems other than routine maintenance??

Great little bike. Had some trouble with the carb, but the last time Rusty at SMCity adjusted her for me, must have hit that sweet spot, she's been running great since.

She also really prefers high test gas, so that's what she gets now. And I find that fill ups need to happen every 60 miles or so, only about a 2.3 gallon tank.

And here's to MANY more miles of safe driving. :buddies: Every time I read about an accident, it makes me a bit more cautious.

I'm still nervous about 235 in the Park, only go that route if I have to. Still haven't been across the bridge to Solomons - need to try that - early on a Sunday morning I figure would be best for me and everyone else on that bridge! I'll probably just get up and do it by myself some Sunday morning...up to Prince Fred, across Benedict, back home.

Ladies call their bikes "she" also? Guys have a reason for doing it. What is your reason?

The TJ bridge is nothing at all to cross. Just keep your speed up and...never mind; no one does that anyhow.

"She" is just habit I guess? Aren't all bikes "she"?

Keeping speed up is something I've struggled to overcome, still feel like slowing down on a corner would be the better option, but I know better now!

Hmmm, filling up @ 60 miles? On 2 gallons? Seems really low. I go 250 miles on my 650, with 5.2 gallons. cut that in half since you have half the gas, that's about 125. And you are getting half of that.......

Are you just being cautious and filling up at a half tank? Have you ever run it down to reserve to see how far a tank will get you? Safe to do so, since reserve will get you much farther than any distance you might be away from a gas station around here.

My mileage is about 50ish per gallon.

I have had to switch to reserve a couple of times, but I've never paid attention to where I started. I do often fill up just because, I usually put 1.5 - 2 gallons in, 2.3 last time I got to reserve.

Next time I fill up, I'll make note of my mileage and let it get down to reserve. I'll get back with you....

Do you also use high test?

Only in my car that requires it, the bike gets 87 and likes it:)

Congrats on your new hobby.

I've had my license for a long time, but just got MY first bike in April. Something over 3K on it now and can't get enough of riding.

I'm taking the "ride like a pro" class this Sunday and looking forward to refining skills. Should be fun.

Oh, and the bridge is nothing. As was said, maintain speed, eyes ahead and motor on.

That looks like another good class. Very well may be the next one I take. Some of the pictures are cool...big bikes leaning way into a turn. I'd be a bit nervous, but enjoy it.
Excuse me while I go do more reading.

It's a good class. Me on my Strat and one guy on a FLHTCU. Everyone else was some form of BMW or other. Needless to say, everyone knew when he and I were on the course "screeeeeeeeeeeeee".

It's a really good class in my view. They do mental preparation, predator/prey vision, discussion of situations you have fears and/or struggle with, classroom stuff. And they do lots of technique stuff out in the parking lot. Hard braking, braking in the corners, proper body position and technique for corners, trail braking (you'll wonder how you ever did without it). I learnted a lot.

Anyone care to tell "my-thyme" why guys call their bikes "she"?

Your confidence will increase with riding time. Fortunately there are no corners on most bridges but, for some reason, a little incline on the TJ bridge causes everyone to slow down to a crawl.
