My wife has been having some real problems with her foot. Can anyone recommend a good Podiatrist in St. Mary's County or our surrounding areas?

Anyone to avoid too would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Skip the one in the shopping center by Nicoletti's. He is so hung on himself and a @ss. I've been to him twice and I will not go back.

I'm going to try the one in exploration. By Hair it is. I can't think of the name............ sorry.

I looooove, looove, love Dr. Demehri... "The Foot Specialist"... he has St. Mary's offices in Leonardtown 301-475-3300 and Hollywood 301-373-8500.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and his staff...

The offices of Dr. Idol and Dr. Hertz is recommended. My elderly father had a burr in his heel that they remedied. They are located in Exploration Park in Lex Park.

I had a lot of problems when I went to Dr. Hertz. I ended up with a lot more problems then when I went there. The one by Nicoletti's really messed up a friend of mine. I'm not sure of the spelling of his name, but it was something like VanFolsum.

I would suggest trying a Sport's Medicine doctor. Doctor Cox fixed all of my problems!

I have to agree Halgren and Bubser, the whole office sucked bad. Very cavalier attitude and a real holier than thou azz. The first thing that is done to everyone is order some POS insoles for $400 that do nothing. I was very dissatisfied.

My uncle Stanley was always having feet problems. My grandma says he had the ugliest feet in the world. He had 6 toes on his left foot and each one looked more hideous than the other starting with his big toe. His littlest toe looked like a diseased tadpole. My grandma said his shoes must act like meat grinders, and she was always trying to get him to get his feet measured right when he got new shoes. One time he got arrested for cutting his toenails at work and putting them in a jar. That judge totally said it was a felony and ordered him to go to the doctor to get his feet looked at and said he could never work at a baby food company again. That doctor was pretty good and he was Miles Jemson in Leonardtown. He shaved up my uncle's feet and treated them diseases and even cut off that extra toe. He was so proud of his feet he went barefooted for about 3 months and almost got frostbitted.

Thanks everyone for your input. It's important to know what good Doctor to go see and it's also important to stay away from the bad Doctors out there.

Thanks again!

I will not be taking my kids ever to Dr.'s Hallgren or VanFossen again. I agree with previous posts about VF's attitude. He doesn't listen....and when politely asked a question he seemed to be annoyed. Mostly though, the office was DIRTY! Splatter marks on the bases of the treatment chairs, bits of toenail on the "sanitary" tool area, some kind of foot debris on the chair. My son sat on the floor and got up with his pants FILTHY. Especially at a FOOT doctor the floor should be clean...sheesh. I have worked at animal hosptials that were way cleaner than this place. This is not an exageration. Was completely disgusted. I will be trying one of the other doctors recommended on this forum.

After numerous foot surgeries and treatments I would first recommend an orthopedic doctor/surgeon over a podiatrist. I would also recommend Dr. Paul Cooper at Georgetown Univ. Hospital.

Thanks so much for the advice! Not sure if i'd need a orthopedic surgeon for my situation. My son has had two ingrown toenail procedures...one on each big toe. One of them is infected or ingrown again after about 4 months. I made an appt with Dr. Olkaba (works with Idol and Hertz) over in LP at the exploration buildings. Has anyone used this podiatrist before? It is a painful procedure and I hope he does not have to go thru it again...just looking for a second opinion and more professional atmosphere.
