Sadly, the same things could be said of this country.

The writer seems to say everything but, "Thank you, America for 'political correctness'!" I've always regarded the English as more 'civilized' than us, but perhaps that character is eroding. I took a holiday there in 2001 and thought most people were very pleasant; I guess the perception is relative, given what you're accustomed to.
