5th Annual SMAWL Animal Fair

The fifth annual SMAWL Animal Fair will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the St. Mary’s County Fairground from 10 AM - 3 PM.

What is the SMAWL Animal Fair?
The St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League is an annual festival attended by over 1,100 people and their pets. It is a day for people and their pets to play and shop together. The fair features non-stop demonstrations, pet games, vendors, microchipping, a pet pageant, equine demonstrations, a pet parade and much more.

The purpose of the Animal Fair is to create interest and generate support for local animal welfare and rescue groups and their supporting industries. Our goal is to stage a quality event in order to help SMAWL raise much needed funds to continue our no-kill rescue and adoption program.

100% of the profits benefit animal rescue.

$52.00 and they do accept credit cards. The price may seem a little high but they will be doing the registering with the micro chip company for you. This is a step normally performed by the pet's owner and generally cost another $15.00. All too often lost pets are scanned only to find the micro chip is there but the owner never completed the registration. The chip is useless without the registration process.

It turned out to be a great day! Mother Nature was in a good mood - and a lot of people with cabin fever jumped at the opportunity to be out and about with their dogs and cards. There was even one family with a bird (I didn't know they made harnesses that tiny!!) a hedgehog and a rabbit!
