Bre is a black and tan female purebred Miniature Pinscher. She is approximately 6 years old. She has been spayed. She is housebroken, good with kids, and other animals

ANOTHER purebred, I wonder if she was an owner surrender?

If you don't think that shelters are FULL of purebred animals, you need only to browse Tricounty's site or to get a broader view, browse Petfinder. People need to take responsibility, both the buyer (for commiting to the animal for it's life) and the BREEDER for ensuring that any animal bred has a home before the breeding takes place.

And these are only the dogs that are on their website, many more dogs are in the shelter.

Does the KIND of dog matter?

Not to me it doesn't, it's a dog that needs a home. But a number of people don't realize how many purebred dogs wind up in the shelter. That's what the post was meant to point out.

I made a phone call to someone who has been looking for a min pin

That's great! Hopefully this dog will get a chance to live the rest of it's life in a good home!

Thank you.

Yes, we were there when she was surrendered yesterday. Her owner says she is great with people, cat, dogs and kids and she is housebroken. She just didn't have time for her after six years!?
Wish I had known about the yellow lab when I was there, I would have taken him home. Is there any way to be notified of this type of situation before it happens? Not that we don't have enough animals here, but. . .

The only way I know to avoid this is to put your name/organization on the dog in question then when it's time is up they will call you to see if you are going to pull it or not. That way the dog is still up for adoption, but there is a rescue in case no one adopts him.
