600 Dollar Stimulus per head.

I’m so confused with this whole thread, the bill is giving a $300 bump to the unemployed PER WEEK! So we’re going to be mailing out over $3,300 through the Spring to those unemployed. It seems the complaints here are about the $600 payment being sent to the low wager earners (below $75k per year) who already saw a $1200 check earlier this year. Why not just have the government send you money weekly?

I’m all in favor of sending those who want to work, but who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, support, this bill does that, a $1200 monthly bonus on top of any state unemployment benefits.

I‘m baffled at the response to the $600, but I guess people will always act like pigs at the trough when given the chance.

Lindsey makes some excellent points as to why we should support Pakistan, I’m fine with money going there for this cause. Sad to say but I know my fellow citizens will always have a hand out, there has to be some restraint.

I just read the piece and it rehashes what our president said in his speech. But my point stands, why do working people need another $2,000 when they already got $1,200? I’m not talking about the unemployed, they are already covered by other provisions in the bill.

Most people didn’t get to travel this year, didn’t spend money on movies, restaurants, and the US savings rate is nearly TWICE what it was last year at this time:

I don’t see how $2,000 to WORKING people is not just a handout for no good reason. I’m not buying “well over $2 billion is being sent overseas”, we do realize how much it would cost to send each American $2,000 right? We’re talking over $500 billion.

I’ve seen this argument in several threads here, where are you folks getting this information? I’m curious, this is what is actually in the legislation

“Undocumented immigrants or other non-citizens who do not have Social Security numbers and file individual tax returns would still not be entitled to stimulus checks under this week's agreement. U.S. citizen children without a parent with a Social Security number would also remain ineligible for the aid.”

My solution? Don’t send anything to those with jobs, period! Not $600, not $1200, not $2000. All this does is get the Universal Basic Income folks drooling, did you see AOC’s reaction to the Trump speech? She nearly did a cartwheel on Twitter.

It’s all over folks if you think the government just sending you checks of $2,000 is a good idea....wake up!

Talking out his ass....I just checked. The only difference between 2020 and 2021 is a slight increase in the minimum income threshold. The 10% and 12% rates remain unchanged.

That money going to Pakistan will never make it to the programs it’s intended to support. That’s just how it is in those countries.
