I saw all the Karens posting on the FB SMD news page...freaking out about how parents should all mob the school and rescue their chillins. Good grief.

If they were the same round tip scissors we had in school at that age, this kid may have caused bad bruises.

However, reads like a being who needs Major Mental Health Help.

Parents NEED to be investigated, too.

Some on the FB comments are blaming this behavior on the pandemic. GMAB
I would not discount it. There is a lot of pent up frustration because of the pandemic and what it demanded of us. Did you see the news concerning the incidents on planes dropping after the mask mandate was dropped? People are ready for normal but our government isn’t, hence frustration and outbursts.

The school closures truly have been a contributing factor to behaviors in classrooms. A seven year old is basically like a first year student being asked to work and behave like they've been in school 2-3 years.

The student mentioned in this article may also be a child with an IEP and placed in an environment they aren't ready for. Could be a teacher who panicked over a small incident and turned it into a big one, could be sucky parenting, or a combination of all the above. Without knowing the details of what triggered the ordeal, I won't judge.

Frustration and outbursts yes. Trying to stab with scissors is beyond that. IMO

I believe that to be true. But trying to stab them with scissors?
If it is a child who was already prone to outbursts or meltdowns, then yes, it could easily escalate to stabbing with scissors.
It could be any number of things that led to this particular event, but it is very possible that lack of social learning for 2 years may have made it more intense.
