STAMFORD, Connecticut (WABC) -- Police in Connecticut say eight high school students have been arrested and another four are pending after a wild food fight in the cafeteria that was promoted on social media and resulted in a police officer and a teacher being injured.

The charges the students face range from first-degree riot and breach of peace to reckless endangerment and assault on a police officer.

The police officer and teacher probably should not have joined the food fight, as they are most likely too old to play.

First degree riot, Reckless endangerment, and assault on a police officer is a little harsh.

How about a ten day suspension and no cell phones or computer activity for 60 days.

If they had just limited themselves to bringing a gun to school they could have got away with classroom disturbance, or no charges at all.
