Is there anyway to get them to sleep at night instead of wanting to play or spend the evening whining every hr on the hr. I get up and take her out and I tell her night night when she starts playing at 12am and is hyper and biting me. she does sleep some during the day and then gets hyper again and bites me.

She also has separation anxiety from me as I am the only one who takes care of her. If I leave the room she starts whining immediately and I have to call her to come to me unless I am upstairs then my mom talks to her as we don't allow her upstairs as I have 2 cats and they need a safe place for them plus this dog is going to be huge when she is done growing (stbernard). We have also tried working with her and the crate and she gets put in there every am for about 5min or so and cries the whole time. We put her in there with a treat and toy and say good girl as she gets in. she just the other day started to get fed her breakfast lunch and dinner in there and she goes in no problems to eat and sniff but she won't lay in there with the door closed but if its open she will get in for a min or two then jump right out. I also haven't left the house in 4 days now except to go to the country store 2 days with her as she goes there with my stepfather when he has time and can take her down there with him.

My boyfriends parents have had several Saints over the years. They got all of them at 8 weeks, and have never had any of these problems. They did, however gate them in the kitchen when they were not going to be home. The puppies were fine with this, and once they got to be a little older they just started leaving them out and they haven't had any problems.

She I think was taken away from her mom too early by the breeder but I can't swear on it. AS the day we went to pick her up she ran right over to the area that her mom and dad were in and I got yelled at to run after her as they didn't want her mom to see her but she did and she tried to get through the fence to get to her.

I am hoping things get better as she is only 8 weeks of age in time. She just turned 8 weeks on monday and we picked her up on sunday. I am the only one really caring for her I think that is why she has become attatched to me. We got a crate for her as we really have no area we can gate off that is hers as the whole mainfloor is hardwood floors and we don't want accidents on them. I have been working with her daily on the going to the bathroom outside deal with her and shes done good so far other than 3 accidents 2 here at home and one at the store.

We I think are only going to crate her til she gets a little older or about 90lbs as that is all this crate will hold and shes already almost 20lbs. She thinks shes a lapdog too which is kind of funny. She loves being with me. If my mom or stepdad talk to her she just ignores them lol.

Crate training

This is a wonderful way to train a dog, but needs to be done properly. A puppy should not be allowed access to a crate large enough for a 90-lb. dog. When we got our puppy, we bought a piece of wire shelving that was about the same size as the interior of the crate. We attached it with twist-ties so that the puppy had enough room to lay down comfortably. As she grew, just move the partition back. If given too much room, the puppy will go to the bathroom in the crate in one end and then go lay down in the other, which is what you definitely do not want. Puppies should be put in the crate whenever they are not being monitored. It will become "home" for your pup and soon he will probably go in there to rest all on his own. Here is a link I found with some good information: American Dog Trainers Network -- How To Successfully Crate Train Your Puppy. Good luck.

crate training is a wonderful thing.... keep increasing the time. she will think of it as her room and it is a place for her to go to nap. you can cover the crate in a blanet to make it more like a "den" of course do not cover the front. there are many good books out there that will help too. The Loved Dog is a real good one!! Good luck...you may want to play real hard with her before bed so she will be plenty tired and at least you can get some sleep

Here is a pic of my little girl (bruno) shes my stepdads dog and that is what he wanted her name to be since the country store has had 7 brunos no matter if they are male or female they are bruno which I think is stupid but ohwell. This dog thinks shes mine because I am the only one who takes her out and feeds her and gives her fresh water and all that jazz. I hope she does ok with my stepdad today as he is taking her to the store without me.
