8 yr Pom and 8 mo Chihuahua at Shelter

We were just up there because we are thinking of getting a companion for our dog and I was surprised to see these dogs. Both were picked up as strays.

The Pom was a fawn and very friendly. It really misses its owners. I can't imagine someone just letting a Pom go. If you're missing one he might be it.

As we were there they brought in the male Chihuahua. He had a reddish coat and was very calm. I've never met one so calm. He never made a sound. I hope his owners find him before he's adopted because I think he'll go fast.

For some reason, seeing small house dogs at the pound, I think, is worse that seeing a bigger dog. I have two poms and I just can't imagine leaving them outside for any longer than 1/2 hr before checking on them!

Tri County Animal Shelter in Hughesville.

There are also two very sweet boxers - both surrenders for stupid reasons - and you know surrenders go first so if anyone wants a great boxer..

The pom was fortunately placed in the puppy room so at least it wasn't in "general population". A very handsome little guy.

Where? I want to adopt them!!!!!!!!!

Please let me know if you got them. They were side by side in the puppy room. A great balance of busy pom and calm chi.

There was another puppy in there that they said was a doxie but it was huge for 10 weeks and had webbed feet so I know it was a mix. I may adopt that one. It was very sweet but I could tell it was going to be a jumper so it will need work.

SOMD POM MOM
I don't think an older Pom would be a good choice for a family with young children. Maybe the Chi, but they typically do better with older children.

Depends onthe pom and the kids.

Some poms are 20+lbs...
If tiny (4lbs or under) and/or with thin legs most likely not a good idea.

I really can't take someone in right now, or I would go get him and run him thru the rescue. :( If someone can foster we maybe able to help.

Do you know if the black and white Chihuaha mix with ringworm is still up there?
yep. He's in there and not adoptable until the ringworm is cured.

Strawberry Gal - the pom was very friendly to a small child that was there. The chihuahua was large for a puppy (I thought) but did well with everyone.

My sister has her eye on that dog. I just brought home two old guys from tri-county.

How old is this fella and is it a fella? Do you have pictures? How can I help?
I have a 4 year old sheltie mix. He's the bestest dog ever. I think he needs a buddy,...but I'm kinda skeered to mess with success (he's "home alone" while I'm at work). Can we meet?

:yay:

Mine are never out without supervision... I have a 6ft privacy fence, but if they wanted they could go clean through it...

Yay!!!! If I didn't already have a dog I'd get an older one but mine only puts up with pups. She's an old woman (10 yrs).

I can only get male dogs. I have one female that does not like other girl dogs.

I have always had a soft spot for the jacked up dogs that nobody else would ever want. The old lab was in pretty bad shape. His ears were terribly infected, he has heart worm, and tumors all over him. I didn't expect him to live but maybe a couple of weeks but he's perked right up now that he's on antibiotics and steroids. Looks like he might be around for a quite a bit longer. :yay:

I have to stay off of the Tri-County website for a while, going up there and visiting is like sending an alcoholic to happy hour. :jet:
