87 million uninsured, 30 thousand dying a year, 500 thousand going bankrupt. Time for a change to a broken system.

The constitution doesn't say anything about wiping your ass after you crap but I bet you still wipe. It's a living document, we're not beholden to some 200 year old document when it makes good sense not too.
See, actually we are. And, I do wipe. But, if I didn't want to, I have that option as well.

However, we ARE beholden to the document. It is the foundation of our government. It is the rule of law.

If you want the authority you seek, you need a constitutional amendment granting that authority to the government. It does not have it now.

BurntBrain is just like every other Democrat. He believes rules are for other people, not him.

The only thing we are beholden too is the will of the people my friend. So the best thing is to continue to open peoples eyes to the benefits of a single payer system, and catch up with the rest of the developed world.

The will of the people is called "mob rule". It's exactly WHY we are not a democracy, but rather a constitutional republic.

The problems far outweigh the benefits of "single payer" (it's not, it's all the taxpayers paying, so even the name is wrong). "Lack of freedom" is not an improvement.

You have to change the constitution to give government the authority, or we switch to mob rule. I'm not for mob rule. Neither would people who want an abortion be, since most people are against it. Neither would people who are gay, since most people are against same-sex "marriage". Neither are people who are a "protected" class, because discrimination would be rampant. Neither would Muslims, because the country would have, in 2001/2 pretty much outlawed their existence in the United States. But, since we're a constitutional republic and not run by mob rule, your position is woefully invalid.

Yep, Canada, where my buddy had to suffer with a damaged rotator cuff for a full year while waiting for surgery. And had to go back a second time because the first op wasnt successful. And a year and a half later, it' still hurts him. You get what you pay for. Meanwhile I waited four years for sugery, but only because my doctor and I agreed that I didnt need it yet. And we agreed it was time, I was on the table in two months, and recovered in less than four.

That 200 year old document forged the most power force for freedom on the planet. Which has freed and continued to ensure the freedom of more people that any other document in history. Has a cool feature. If it gets outdated, they even baked in a process to alter it to suit the times. Try that before you ignore it. Becuase ignoring it is a dangerous thing..........once you ignore one part, that frees up others to ignore parts you like.

That's what I'm saying, you can alter the constitution. Ask your buddy if he would like to switch to American style health care.

Hey, check out this Canadian survey of specialist wait times. Averaging 10 weeks between referral and initial visit, thats 2 and a half months. 19.8 WEEKS between referral and actually being treated by that specialist.

https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/waiting-your-turn-wait-times-for-health-care-in-canada-2018

Waiting for treatment has become a defining characteristic of Canadian health care. In order to document the queues for visits to specialists and for diagnostic and surgical procedures in the country, the Fraser Institute has—for over two decades—surveyed specialist physicians across 12 specialties and 10 provinces.

Research has repeatedly indicated that wait times for medically necessary treatment are not benign inconveniences. Wait times can, and do, have serious consequences such as increased pain, suffering, and mental anguish. In certain instances, they can also result in poorer medical outcomes—transforming potentially reversible illnesses or injuries into chronic, irreversible conditions, or even permanent disabilities. In many instances, patients may also have to forgo their wages while they wait for treatment, resulting in an economic cost to the individuals themselves and the economy in general.

Right, we dont have one a reason. They are subject to mob rule. Again, that will of the people crap cuts both ways. Do you really want President Trump to just decree things because the mobs say so? Really?

They only feel that way when "Their side" has the power.

He'll change his tune like a jukebox when the other side has it.

Leftists are short-sighted little ****tards.

I'd do a bit more research into that resource.

Seems they were funded by Philip-Morris and Koch.

They would have a vested interest in swaying policy.

I know your buddy is anecdotal evidence but you should ask him if would switch to American style healthcare.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Democracy = mob rule.

If we were a democracy, we would not really need a Supreme Court, and things like the protections for anti-discrimination would not be a "thing", because we could discriminate (at the government level) against anyone we choose so long as the people vote for it. You know, like segregation in school, or no such thing as same-sex marriage, or Islam being outlawed. Those are things a democracy (mob rule) could create.

You know what protects us from that? It's the constitution. It's the fact that we are a constitutional republic. You should thank your lucky stars every day you won the sperm lottery and were born in the United States, because we are not run by mob rule.

I do note that you address none of this from a substance point of view. You apparently now agree the government has no authority to do it, since you said we should not be bound by the constitution that restricts the government from doing exactly what you ask. If you want a democracy, fight to have the constitution nullified, or amended to allow the things you want. Until you do that, your lord and savior (government) cannot do what you want. Bernie knows that, he's just playing on the stupidity of the populace.
