8th Grader with a Gun

And in three years he gets out, because he would be 18.

And then it gets taken off his record, and then.......?

Isn't that nothing more than a slap on the wrist? Jail would mean nothing more than a status symbol to someone willing to point a gun at cops like a punk/ganster
Let's see. He punched a kid and brought a gun to school. Most kids would be suspended for three days for punching someone. Bringing a pellet gun to school, in most cases, gets them expelled. for the remainder of the year. I guess three years in jail could be a result of an assault (cops) charge and a battery change because of the kid he punched.

So since now, you are saying he wouldn't have gotten jail.

What are you really looking for? he wouldn't have gone to jail just kicked out of school. Because that will stop him from going back.

So back to just saying "Oh please don't do that again. You could have hurt someone"

Or am I missing something?

Maybe we can get that tacked on?

I'm sorry, man. We are in deep trouble here. Grandma sez he wasn't exactly an angel.

Dewd, when Grandma says "Well, he wasn't exactly an angel..." we're screwed. It's gonna come out that this kid is a chicken ####er, dog fighter, crack head who steals candy from babies and tears mattress tags.
Godmother. And yes, it's a bad sign when a family member or close friend will admit to the press that their felonious loved one was anything less than a perfect choir boy who fed the homeless and healed the sick in his spare time. Means he was a real ####bag who they can't think of anything nice to say about except that he was, uh.....um....oh! He was very giving!

What would you like with your mea culpa, madame?

I gotta give it to you - you stick to your guns (ha) no matter what comes out to indicate that you're wrong. :yay:
How's that pic show if I'm right or wrong?

Even if facts come out showing that he has a record, the question would be... Did the cops know that at the time they were dealing with him in the hallway?

If they didn't know of his record, it wouldn't make a difference that he had a record in the first place.

If the cops did know he had a record then that would change the way they would deal with him in the hallway, especially if he had a record of violence.

But cheer up! If he hadn't been able to get a gun, pellet or otherwise, this would have never happened. So maybe you could change tacks and go with the gun or replica banning argument? Or maybe there should be tougher restrictions on bringing guns/replicas to school? Perhaps another law or something? And maybe they could really mean it this time?

Try my suggestion instead.

Sure does. However, at the moment, who spent more time with a weapon at school today without firing it? Dead Kid or Protect and Serve?

I truly hope this kid is a #### ass little monster and everyone comes out and says he deserved it and has long been a problem.

Experience and the facts as we know them, so far, makes me wonder. I used to reflexively be pro GOP no matter what and I used to be reflexively pro cop, no mater what. Then, I lived a few years.

You and I differ on whether our cops are doing a good or not. I happen to think they do their job correctly far more often than not. It’s just when they do their job correctly it doesn’t get attention. When they don’t, they are the greatest evil on earth. Having known a lot of cops in my years, I can say they are highly unappreciated for the impossible job they have to do.

But go back and read my OP in this thread. It was generic to no one. You answered. It was in the vein of the cop over-reacting. Then your post right here said all that needed to be said about how you feel about the outcome:

That's it! We need more gun control laws.

I wonder who will be the first politician to stand up and propose new restriction on pellet gun.

No you were guessing that he would have hopefully gotten three years for the "attack"

However, I would like to know what you would have liked to see...

Maybe they could have brought in a teddy bear and sat on the floor till he calmed down? Again, he has a gun (you are unsure if it's real or now) but it MUST be those crazy teenage ways. I mean EVERY 15 year old walks into the school with a gun

(Now please understand I know you didn't make all those statement Larry helped you, I am just unsure of what you really wanted to happen?)

Fifteen in the 8th grade?.....
that raised an eyebrow with me too. Not too many people connected those dots at the end of the cnn article either.

Doesn't sound all that innocent to me. I'm willing to bet that the officer that shot him is not feeling all that great about it, but in the long run, I'm willing to bet that lives were saved...if not immediately, years from now.

No. I stated what a school system typically does for those types of violations then made a guess at how the civil authorities would be able charge him and put him in jail for three years. Heck they could've charged him as an adult if need be.

Just a matter of time IMHO. Who knows what the intention of the kid was....but judging by the actions of punching some other kid and bringing the gun to school, couldve been a gang initiation. Either way the cops did the right thing. Rather see a future criminal go down then a good cop. Also, when I was 15, boys settled things with their fists, not guns. Dont know when that all changed, but it needs to be that way again.

And there's a flag on the play! 15 yards for mis-characterization and a personal foul to boot!

I think they do a great job most of the time. This one sounds fishy.
