WASHINGTON — A CIA contractor has been arrested and will be charged for the alleged abuse and death of a detainee in Afghanistan (search), government officials told Fox News.
Attorney General John Ashcroft is expected to announce the charges Thursday in Washington, D.C.
The name of the contractor is David Passaro and he is expected to make a court appearance in federal district court in Raleigh, N.C. A grand jury indictment against him has been unsealed.
Passaro was arrested Thursday in North Carolina and has been charged with assaulting a detainee, resulting in death, officials told Fox News.
Authorities are investigating the deaths of at least nine prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan that doctors have classified as homicides
