What if he was driving to the hospital himself with chest pains instead of calling an ambulance? Why didn't he pull over? These scenarios don't create the majority of fender benders. Are you saying its okay to loose your license for year for a fender bender? That was the thread topic :coffee:
I was the first person to respond
No, you shouldn't lose your license for a fender bender. and yes...this thread is ridiculous...but now we are onto bigger and better things and having yet another somd.com discussion of something that neither side is going to give on :lmao:

It is an accident if he had a medical condition he was unaware of
An accident:
If subject A has a heart attack and thus crashes his vehicle in some way (whether it be in a ditch, into a pole, into a subject B, ect).

If he had no prior condition/symptoms then it is an accident :yay: YW
Nope. Under your definition, there can be no cause. The heart attack caused the crash, so by your definition it is not an accident.

Show me anything anywhere that has ever happened without a cause of some sort.

Websters 9th collegiate dictionary, page 49, definition 2.a:

an unfortunate event resulting especially from carelessness or ignorance.

Does that definition cover the mouth breathing 71 IQ Leonardtown honors student, doing her makeup while listening to a CD and talking on the cellphone that runs a red light and hits somebody?

Let's see:

An unfortunate event. Yes.

Careless. Yes.

Ignorant. Yes.

See, it's an accident.
I've already said this...It is all SEMANTICS.

You can find a definition to support your opinion, as I can find a definition to support mine. We aren't going to get anywhere arguing about it

Did I miss the definition that supported yours?

I wonder what percentage of people who are born WEREN'T "accidents" (Like, how many kids are born because people are actually TRYING to get preggo?)

Nope. Under your definition, there can be no cause. The heart attack caused the crash, so by your definition it is not an accident.

Intersting...I suppose you did get me there.

Under MY definition though (not the one I found), an accident can NOT be caused by gross negligence. If you crash because of not paying attention, it is NOT an accident (according to my definition).

So the actual definition of the word doesn't matter, just what you think the word should mean?

Is your real name Johnny P. Cusick?

According to Johnny, there is no such thing as an accident:
ok

We have been over this...and I'm not going to say it again ...it is all semantics in that it is all how one person defines the word. Not all definitions are going to agree entirely. Some people consider it to be an accident if they crash because they were speeding even though they knew it was icy out...if you take chances, in my mind, that doesn't make something an accident.

So you do agree that you're saying there's no such thing as an accident, according to you?
