Just sent a text to my cousin who lives in Simi Valley, asking her about the wrath of God. She just left church services. Said they only felt a little rolling from the earthquake and got a bit damp from the rIan because she forgot the umbrella- don’t usually need one in that area. Otherwise she and her family are surviving the wrath.

We can always hope.

I actually don't know that many people in California, any more. The vast majority of them have left. Of the ones left, one fought in both Korea and Vietnam as an Army infantryman, and later, a San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy. The other is likewise a conservative, but doubtful she'll move; not at her age. The rest are flaming leftists, and while they're not bad people, I'd be like "Oh, that's too bad."

The once Golden State that I knew and loved - so much so that I was always proud to tell people I was from there - is no more, and hasn't been, really since the '70s.

On the up side, friends and relatives in Arizona could soon become beach front property owners.

I used to live in Camarillo, which isn't far from Simi Valley. Some of the people I worked with lived up there and commuted to Point Mugu.
