A New Cancer Treatment

I have Prostate Cancer. 7 Proton Treatments done, 37 to go, then back to Maryland. Boy do I miss my boat.

My first doctor wanted me to just get the Cancer cut out. He got very upset when I said no. I am getting something called Proton Therapy. It is right out of Star Trek days.

My Prostate Cancer is treated at Loma Linda Hospital using Proton Radiation.

found a good video of what Proton Therapy is:

mms://mdavs1.mdacc.tmc.edu/media/patiented/108.wmv

copy and put in the top line of a Internet Explorer window, then hit enter

MD Anderson scans the protons, but here at LLU they
have a spinning wheel to produce the same spread of
Proton, getting the exact same result. So the new
stuff looks better, more Star Trek, (Remember McCoy
and his remarks on those Barbarians, they probably
still use Medieval blood letting, that is called Surgery) but the result will
be the same.

Let me know if you know of any Cancer people. They are doing Cancer treatment here on the neck, back of an eye, brain, lungs, and a new protocol for Brest Cancer. (45 Cancer areas)

The old way was to Radiate, but 20 years later Cancer forms in you Lungs or Heart. So go Protons, as their accuracy is .5cm on delivery of the Radiation, so no other tissue is hit.

Do not get cut. There are other options.

I have been in remission for five years now from osteogenic sarcoma or bone cancer. I went through 17 chemotherapy treatments and came out fine. no proton therapy or anything. Proton therapy is trial. Just as chemotherapy is if you think about it. I am glad you are trying something new, but if you really want to be brave head down to a clinic in mexico and get all natural treatment. That's what one kid back home in Va did. He denied any type of chemotherapy..and he wanted to receive treatment in mexico. This child is only 15 yo. He has no idea what he is talking about. I was diagnosed at 14 and let the doctors handle my situation. Anyways, I hope the treatment works well for you.

Go to Mexico for medical treatment?? :yikes: I don't think so.

Pot, tequila and vacation is all Mexico is good for.

"Proton therapy is trial."

Its been there for 15 years, so not trial anymore. Also the cure rate is 90%, the same for being cut or getting seeds.

The bottom line, is the side effects are way way less. You get to live with the side effects of getting cut for the rest of your life.

16% into your treatment and claiming success? You don't have the foggiest idea what is going on in your body, especially with Prostate Cancer. That is still one of the big arguments with Prostate Cancer, maybe it's going to grow slowly and you will die from something else or let's go after it aggressively.

20 years?? Are you really a Cancer patient or a Proton salesman?

I'm in the 6th year and think a running back is an idiot to spike the ball before he gets to the goal line.

Good luck anyway.

"claiming success?", where did I say I had success. I just quoted the 10 year Study on Protons, that pretty much put to rest what the odds were.

By the way the study was followed up by a statement from the cancer center at John Hopkins in Baltimore, who does not do any proton treatment, but agreed with the results.

Am I a proton Patient? Don't know, but I get zapped on Monday for number 8.

We have folks here who had the cutting operation, and then were told, "you still have cancer". So they came for Proton treatment, plus Photon treatment. Usually 22 of each.

Cancer may come back in the lungs or heart with all cancers. Yes there is a chance that yours will come back too. Chemotherapy has proven well its success but sometimes not. I know many people have passed on due to aggressive tumors attacking the body at such a fast rate chemo or radiation or your proton therapy won't work. Yes, I am sure that the proton therapy is better than getting cut as you say. I would call the term surgery..But lets see getting a leg salvage surgery or getting an amputation? I chose the surgery all the way!

Treatable, because it is so contained, and the equipment can see the area so well.

We have one guy with a tumor behind his eye. He goes in just before me, and he is using the accuracy of Proton delivery to miss the eye, and kill the tumor.

I hope it works.

Good for you, unlike my dad, his isn't treatable. :ohwell:

Good luck.

"Yes there is a chance that yours will come back too."

I think we agree, I just stated the study from the 10 year report showed all 3 solutions (Proton, Seeds, and Surgery) have the SAME cure rate.

So now the discussion should be on the side effects. Not the cure rate.

Thanks. I think my dad had Brain Cancer as well. It was all over the brain, so no real spot to treat with Surgery or anything. He is now in Arlington Cem.
