Gem Twist was euthanized Nov. 18, 2006, at age 27. He died at the site of his birth, the Chapot family farm in New Jersey.

:frown: I remember seeing Greg Best riding Gem Twist at the WIHS many years ago. Spectacular horse. I hope this baby can match that talent. :yay:

Gem Twist, a grey Thoroughbred gelding, was named "Horse of the Year" three times.

Wouldn't a true clone of him also be grey? Or will he turn later with maturity?

I've seen bay babies turn into greys, think it takes a couple years.

oh yes, gray horses are never born gray - they are born chestnut, bay, or black and they "gray out" with time, usually by age 4 they are getting pretty gray. check records, i wonder if gem twist was bay when he was born.
