A WORD TO THE WISE

In another thread there is great info about the best burger joints around. However, when you get a soda with the burger, I noticed it is always 90% ice. You ask for just a little ice instead. No problem. It is then 89.9% ice. Every burger joint does it. Why? Simple. They are trying to save money. It is like when they make your coke or pepsi mainly "carbonated water" instead of any coke syrup. Simply put, it's the oldest trick in town. They love to see how much they can mess with you. It's nothing personal. They are just trying to safe a buck. When you multiple one customer times the next, then the next and so forth, it simply adds up. Never mind that you are "paying for it". That doesn't matter to them. ....... Then I discovered something. - The darn coke is always COLD in the first place WITHOUT ice. Even in the Summer time! Once I discovered this, I had to play their game "IN REVERSE" My favorite chicken place is the best. I order the meal and tell them "coke with no ice". The guy writes it down on his little tablet so they can immediately get the order. You CONFIRM with him, "you wrote no ice, correct?" "Yes Sir" he says. So you drive up, and guess what? It still has ice. Fancy that. In fairness, they do quickly correct. "Sorry for the mistake". Most people ask for ice he said. It was 27 degrees out. It would probably freeze on its own if I was at a picnic table instead of a warm vehicle. Since they no write it in "capital letters on the receipt", they have been pretty consistent in getting it right since then. Not too many places, except for McDonalds tries the soda with no coke syrup. That's how they used to only give it to you for a dollar. It was mainly "carbonated water". The idea was to attract you there so you buy something else. They reluctantly take it back. But, they certainly do not want to. Try to get fries with no salt. - That's a story for a different day. (lol).

Plus if you go in to a BK their soda machine has more soda choices than democrats have genders.
Same at Five Guys. That soda machine with the replaceable "ink jet" cartridge refills is pretty amazing.

Well of course. Who wouldn't want to sell a a super profitable .05¢ drink full of HFCS, flavoring, water and ice for $2 or more. It called, "A fool and their money are soon parted". Stick with plain water and save some money. : )

Never witnessed any work on one of them.

I assumed it had lines running under the cabinet to tanks.

They have flavor cartridges that look just like ink jet, but bigger, maybe 10 x 12 x 1. Pop one out, pop another in. The only lines are for the water. Don't know if they have an internal or external CO2 bottle.
