Former Guidance Counselor Denies Sexual Relationship With Troubled Girl, Makes Plea Deal

Wearing combat fatigues and black face paint streaked under his eyes, David Woodington crept into the woods of Southern Maryland and waited for the secret rendezvous. It was 5 a.m., and he remembers it being so cold that he could see his breath. | MORE >>

So the daughter willingly meets with the counselor and then In March, the teenager and her parents filed a lawsuit against Berg and the St. Mary's school system for failing to prevent Berg from contacting the girl. They say they need money from the suit to pay about $200,000 in medical and legal debts.

You have to wonder what people are thinking when they do something like this. The counselor had to have known she'd get caught and she had to have known what the consequences would be.

But hey! Now Chopticon can be famous on the O'Reilly Factor! :jet:

Why would she do this after being warned by her superiors AND a judge??

School administrators had also ordered Berg not to have contact with the girl. Berg herself, at the prompting of a judge, had promised not to contact the teenager. Despite all that, about 10 a.m. Jan. 13, 2004, she pulled up to the meeting place in her copper-colored Ford truck and picked up the girl.

Berg was taken into custody and soon resigned from her job under pressure. Prosecutors charged her with child sex abuse and said they had firm evidence against her, including what they described as a love letter sent from her school e-mail account.

Last fall, prosecutors and Berg came to a plea agreement -- in part because prosecutors say they were worried that the girl might lie to protect Berg -- and the counselor accepted a three-year suspended sentence and five years of unsupervised probation for helping the teenager commit truancy.

Mrs. Berg was my math teacher at GM. I don't know how much of this to beleive. The girl doesn't seem too creidable considering her mental status. I remember Mrs. Berg being very caring but not in a sexual way. If she could help you she would. But then again that was 10 years ago and people do change and sometimes it's not for the better.

yeah yeah
This doesnt seem right. I know mrs berg from when I was at GM also. Something isnt right here. She was an awesome teacher then- and I always knew her to care about her students, but not in the manner of what people are thinking. She would take them under her wing and help in any way possible. And no, for those smartarses, not in a sexual manner.

Luvin Life !!!
The email she sent is by far the most incriminating item. If this girl was so emotionally unstable why would Mrs. Berg send an email stating how she was obsessed and loved her. That would only lead the child to read more into the situation. Bottom line the teacher crossed the line.
