St. Mary's schools are closing 2 hours early tomorrow.
I graduated from cow pie high in 1980 and can't ever remember going home early because of heat and we had no A/C. I don't even remember fans in the classrooms.

We would open all the windows and enjoy the smell of the Russell's farm fields fertilized with a fresh application of pig schit.

From what I have read, apparently it is a "big deal" to switch the schools from Heat (which is still on) to A/C and it takes an entire day or two for the buildings to cool down.
The real question is... Why didn't the schools plan for this knowing at least a week in advance that the warmer weather was coming?

Waaah. It's hot. We need actual temperature readings. I truly doubt it would get dangerously hot.

Yeah, we had plenty of hot days in the 70s with no ****ing air conditioning.

Never closed school.

Well, that would be the question, wouldn't it? Switch over on a weekend so the building is nice and cool by Monday. TA-DA! :diva:

Most likely it has to do with electricity demand charges, now you can ALL google it and see how much the school systems electric bills spike when they turn on the chillers for the A/C systems.

The real question is: how warm will the building get during the day? Will it get so hot as to be an actual danger? Will two hours make any difference?

One would think, since it happens every year, it would be a budget item. Taxpayers should really be more interested in exactly what these schools are doing with our money.

Maybe if they were more prudent with the budget they'd have no need to send students out to hawk candie, cookies and pizza to everyone they know twenty times a semester.

Why does your school suck?
We need more money!

You ever work for any government agency? If you have you already know the answer to your question.

To this day at MCRD Parris you don't earn AC until you have earned you Globe, Eagle & anchor.
After your 54 hr Crucible you come back to your cooled off dorm room and you've also earned a Warriors dinner that night.

I believe those west coast pussys have always had ac.

Its an easy cure, pull a few disconnects off, and the electric bills plummet.
